Will AA's cancellations affect US?

They showed on the news tonite in PHX, it is affecting alot of DFW and ORD flights...yes, I believe it will effect non reving to those cities, and cities around those.

I am sure the cancelled flights will finally put AA, WN and DL further on the bttm for ontime performance, customer complaints etc. Maybe we will see another Hat trick?

They had 3 flights canx tonight in TPA and we probably got about 75 people out until we ran out of seats. Filled up CLT and PHL and close on DCA and LAS. If we would have had a way to get people to ORD on the conx from DCA we would have filled it up too. (Actually had someone go to LAS tonight to catch the redeye back to ORD, but not too many people wanted to leave at 845pm and arrive in ORD at 540am I guess?) They were also calling for seats for tomorrow am already. (We were already fairly full tonight and were also taking customers from DL and UA that both had delayed flights).

You shouldn't have a problem from PHX-ABQ. CLT-PHX, maybe yes! :( CLT-ABQ anyone?!!!! :D

Have you considered checking three segment routings out of CLT to ABQ? Obviously PHX-ABQ will be fine so you have to connect somewhere to get to PHX. (Try to find a city where AA/DL doesn't have much frequency or large market share).

Unfortunately (or fortunately for us) we were already full today with Womens Final 4 fans leaving so we didnt have many seats for the AAers today. However, they were already calling today for seats tomorrow and tonight before I left at 9pm I checked with them and they had already canx another 11 flights from TPA tomorrow. Just reissue and send them right over.

Two things I find really odd about all this:

1. SWA screws up royally by being caught in bed with the FAA, so now the FAA begins to crack down in spades and American bears the brunt of it. Not that American shouldn't be doing the inspections; they definitely should. But it is as if by magic that Southwest left the "airline headlines" in about 24 hours and American ends up getting all the bad press.

2. NBC Nightly News for two nights in a row has been reporting "on the scene" at Washington National (DCA) about the fact that American is canceling all these flights which is messing up everybody and everything, but they are using the USAirways concourse as the background with all the USAirways tails painting the backdrop for American's dismal picture.

I GOT TO ABQ WEEEEHEWWWW only took 2 planes leaving without me. Now we'll see about the return. everyone in the airport was talking about the AA stuff, but I didn't notice anything other than that.

I had to tell my best friend to turn around and go home the other morning. He was in line to check in and the flight looked fine the night before, but went to overbooked with the snap of a finger. He was trying to get to a funeral. MSY-PHL-SEA. No other back-ups available, short notice. Would have got stuck in PHL. Realized it was the AA mess that filled up the planes. Boo!

I'd like to know how much cash US made off of this. Not that
there's anything wrong with that. I heard they charged AA full Y.

As to the non-rev craziness, I was going to PDX from SAN. I got
real luck and had backups on AS. But all of our flts were rev stby
big time.

Most of the tickets we received had been reissued invol from AA so they would charge them the negotiated rate, not the FIM full Y rate. Not sure what arrangements they had in other cities though.
Another item of interest in this is that AA has agreed to accept the delivery expense for baggage and US will not have to report any AA claims as US losing bags for this months DOT reports. There were many people checked in on the AA flights on the first night of the groundings and they may not have been able to reroute all the bags in time for them to make the US flights they rebooked customers on. This also occured later into the event when AA thought the plane was cleared to fly and had the FAA ground it after it had been loaded and the customers were later rebooked. AA has advised US that in this instance they would not enforce the "last flown" airline rule in regards to taking a lost bag claim and that if US and AA were close US was to direct these few AA people to the AA baggage office to take a claim. If not, they asked US to assist in taking the claim and filing it with AA for the customers.
In TPA the first night they downloaded all the bags and as far as I know we had time for everyone to get their bag and recheck it. Also a baggage agent advised me today that he had personally only taken 2 claims from AA (morning shift so it might have been different at night) since this all began this week. I would imagine that most of the problems would have been from the first night of groundings and trying to reroute people as fast as they could with what was available to rebook.
Also, not sure how much of this weeks total bookings for TPA were from AA, but we had Spring Break, the Womans Final 4, 2 cruise ships (today) and a golf tournament in town so we were pretty full to begin with. It was hard getting out of town depending on destination, but we did manage to get some out here and there if you were willing to leave early or sit around and wait it out.
