What is the boarding priority for Continental retirees? I am a United retiree and we have the highest priority. Not that we ever use it for all the known reasons! Thanks

I don't know what it is for continental, but for usairways I sat in a terminal for 10 hours last week with 22 years of service(out on medical) and watched two year service employees bump me off flights thanks to the merger. Next time I'll buy a ticket on another airline!

Pilots get to sit on the wing,FA's can sneak into the lavs. :D
Seriously,at CAL,the retiress sadly go to te bottom of the priority list.
PS=Positive Space (mgmt traveling on co business,dh crew etc)
Next comes:
SA=Space Available and this is the order
SA1=Mgmt
SA2=Chelsea Employees with over x amt of yrs(Dont get me started,but rather than pay,they get this :rant:
SA3=Active Employees
SA4=Parents and or Kids traveling without the employee and retirees :eek:
SA5=Buddy Passes.
It goes by year of hire and retirees really get screwed with Year of Hire changed to the year they retired!!

So a 2 yr active employee will get boarded before a 40 yr retiree!
CO does not honor or recognize employees dedication and years of service,but its a moot point since we are running at 99.9% load factors anyway and with so many pilots and fa's commuting to either Cow Town or Sewark,its better to go online and dress like a slob,but at least you'll get on.

Hope this helps.

There are so many things I think United does wrong but at least they respect the retirees. Our retirees go first, even before a commuting flight attendant or pilot.

Positive Space (D/H Crew)
Retirees
Active Employees
Employees Family Not flying with them
Buddy Passes

What are Chelsea employees?

Do the CO retirees fly under buddy passes? Is there a charge for retirees? No charge to UA employees/retirees in coach.

At American, retirees enjoy the exact same pass privileges as active employees, including boarding priority, vacation passes and a buddy pass allocation. The only difference is that retired pilots and flight attendants can't use the jump seats. The airport standby list is arranged by check-in time (up to four hours before scheduled departure), not seniority. Seniority determines the service charges, though.

The idea that a retiree gets priority over a active employee just shows how bad and stupid the entir seniority issue is. The worst idea ever and one of the main reasons this industry in not fixable!

Does anyone know the boarding priority for NWA? What about DL?

To make an analogy, it’s like giving your seat to a senior.

Are you one of those who don’t?

Do you sit in the handy-capped seats as well?

I would bet you do. :down:

I agree with you completely! While waiting last week for the "last call for standbys" with one seat open, the agent paged F/A "Roxie" three times after the jetway door was closed, she arrived pushing with a cart with two carry on's and one hang up with full overhead bins . The agent stated that this happens with her every week. Maybe non rev should become "first come first served"

My brother works for CO and i'm told CO retirees fly as SA4R, they board before SA4 (parents, kids, spouse's traveling without the employee). There is no charge for coach, but I hear there is a charge for First if you can ever find an empty seat. The Chelsea employees get SA1 passes in lieu of lower wages. So, a 30 years employee gets on AFTER a 6 month Chelsea employee.

This issue has been discussed many times, but until you come up with a better system,exactly how would you change the seniority system?Merit?Ghost riders?Smooth vs Rough landings?Do you even work in the industry?Back to the original question,while it is true that Chelsea Mgmt catering employees get SA2 passes,the fact is that they either dont last long enough to enjoy the privelige.I personally have only seen an Chelsea employee non rev 1 or 2 times in the past few years.Same goes for retirees.The Chelsea thing is still a sore subject for Pilots and FA's.

I love retirees and I hope to be one someday! But they should board after active employees and before any guests such as unaccompanied parents, dependents and buddy passes.

Active employees are the ones keeping it going right now and have limited vacation. I may only have one or two chances a year to steal away for a few days to enjoy the benefit that is so hard to take advantage of now. Retirees can pick a different day.
