LOW-FARE EXECUTIVES, TOO James F. Parker's retirement from Southwest Airlines last week was so unexpected that his board had no time to pick a lovely parting gift. In keeping with Southwest's low-fare ethos, he isn't expecting anything like the $5 million that US Airways gave David N. Siegel when he left in April. "Anything that is done will be modest in comparison," Mr. Parker said.
Southwest's chairman, Herb Kelleher, added: "Jim, you can count on that."
