Though, in my opinion, this should be a non-issue given the combined carrier won't have more than 50% of the seats and the vast majority of the US slots are commuter slots, not mainline slots. US current only operates 55 mainline flights from DCA, most of which are Shuttle flights or flights to hubs, and AA only operates flights to their hubs. I have a hunch Parker may let the DOJ sue to stop the merger and put this in the hands of a judge, if he's forced to divest too many slots in the process. I still think there will be an amicable settlement. However, if the DOJ is unreasonable, DCA is valuable enough to see what a judge thinks.DCA? Announce that you want to add a dozen or six or even one new flight in and out of DCA and you cannot do so until you obtain a pair of slots. B6 paid $40 million for eight slot pairs at DCA in late 2011. DCA slots are scarce and valuable, which makes me skeptical that new AA will be permitted to keep 2/3 of the DCA slot inventory.
