US joins all US carriers in suspending TLV service

I'll bet you a nickel that the liability and hull insurance companies are making their voices known on this issue.
You know, aviation is an inherently dangerous activity, conducted in a harsh environment. Everything must go 'right' on every flight for it to be a success.
Why fly into a combat zone to increase the risk? (We certainly are not paid to be in a combat zone).
Missiles? Sorry, can't fly there. End of story. Land somewhere else and bus them in.
Cheers.

They probably didnt have a choice, and they wanted out of there.

Wow!  I'm surprised they would ride along on another carrier.  Delta crews won't even get in the same hotel van if other crews are already onboard.
Please tell me this is dry wit, and that I'm missing it...    :(

True - the DL 747 on which they would have left TLV had turned around and flown back to Paris.

Not dry wit, but probably dated information.

Stories are legion about Delta crews declining a ride on a hotel van if crew members from another airline are onboard.  Years ago, one of my flight attendants tried to get on a regular hotel van (not a chartered van) which already had a Delta crew onboard.  They told her she had to wait for the next van because "this van is for Delta only."

Likely that attitude has softened in the wake of their 2005 bankruptcy when reality reared its ugly face and they found out that their s*** stank like everybody elses.

Also, with the NW merger and mixing of crews, they are likely to find someone on the crew (from NW) who has his/her head screwed on straight.
