Sheriff's deputies said there was also an outstanding warrant for Marman from Santa Clara County on a marijuana possession charge.

Too bad the newspapers and op got the headlines wrong. He wasnt arrested for having saggy pants. Its what transpired after he was asked to pull them up that got him into trouble. If he had set his bags down (his hands were full and he couldnt pull them up right then) and pulled them up like he was asked, he would have been in ABQ in a few hours.

Are you aware that he injured an police officer while resisting arrest?

I have a strong suspicion as to how "injured" the police officer was. If he was really "injured" then I suspect the prosecutors in San Francisco would not be "mulling" as to whether to prosecute this kid. It was clearly a case of an over-zealous, racial stereotyping inflight crew, and I hope they get called on it.

One first-hand account I read stated he was removed from the aircraft in some sort of full body restraint device. Is that SOP for the police when someone is arrested for trespassing?

Sure, because there's never been an instance of a white woman being asked to deplane by an airline because of what they were (or were not) wearing.

How was he trespassing when he had a boarding pass to clear security and board the aircraft with a designated seat? It is what it is and people need to just recognize it for what it is. As far as SF police SOP being called into question who knows what that is. The family of the late Oscar Grant is still wondering why their son was shot in cold blood by a subway cop who was in no way threatened by the young man. So, luckily, the use of full body restraint in this case was a relatively mild form of police force. He was on an airplane in a sterile environment so there was little threat of a weapon. Bottom line is the US Airways crew's overreaction was motivated by their innate racist fears, and the often knee jerk impulse of cops to over react with force exacerbated the situation further. It was all unnecessary and I hope that crew is held accountable for their actions.

I don't know if this is true or not.

Meanwhile, six days earlier, this guy was making one of his trips again...

Marman's attorney, Joe O'Sullivan, said his client had been stereotyped by US Airways as a thug, and that the airline was guilty of racial discrimination for asking Marman to adjust his clothes. Marman is African American.

"It just shows the hypocrisy involved," O'Sullivan said after he viewed the photo of the cross-dressing passenger. "They let a drag queen board a flight and welcomed him with open arms. Employees didn't ask him to cover up. He didn't have to talk to the pilot. They didn't try to remove him from the plane -- and many people would find his attire repugnant."

Pot meet kettle... :D :D :D

He should have been denied boarding. Crap, can we get people to fly decent anymore?
Would anyone like to sit in his sweaty seat after a long flight, come on, at least wear a T-shirt and shorts.
Ugh!!!

No charges in saggy pants case:

Here's what the DA said:

"My belief is if we took this into a courtroom with 12 members of our community on our jury, they would tell me, `Come on guys, you have more important things to spend your time on,'" Wagstaffe said. "And I share that view."

The idiot's defense attorney said that the real villian was USAir.

This is nothing new. How many SA7's show up at ATO's dressed the same way? Had one a few years ago, said PHL let him board like that on the way out. Got called down to the BSO, never did hear the outcome. The above line is not a slam on PHL
