On July 27 in a press release US Airways said, "The company has reached agreements with its primary sources of regional jet financing to continue financing aircraft deliveries through Sept. 30, 2004. The agreements require the company to achieve its Transformation Plan in order to continue to take delivery of new regional jets."

Tonight Jack Stephen, ALPA Communications Committee Chairman said on the code-a-phone, "The MEC also received a report on the MEC budget from the Secretary-Treasurer and from the Vice Chairman on the Company’s request for relief in managing the pilot staffing requirements for the EMB division over the next four months, since the Company plans to aggressively add new EMB-170 aircraft to the EMB division of US Airways."
"Following that report, the MEC passed a resolution directing the MEC Officers, in coordination with the Negotiating Committee, to engage management in discussions on ways to improve the corporate culture at the EMB division. They also directed that the staffing relief be developed that allows the full schedule of deliveries of EMB aircraft to be maintained for 2004, and that the results of these discussions be reported back to the MEC for review and/or further action," Stephen said.

USA320Pilot comments: US Airways said it only has financing in place for new aircraft delivery's through September 30 and "the agreements require the company to achieve its Transformation Plan in order to continue to take delivery of new regional jets." Furthermore, ALPA is working with the company on training relief to permit "that allows the full schedule of deliveries of EMB aircraft to be maintained for 2004."
US Airways is currently financing new aircraft and with a competitive cost structure will likely have access to the capital markets to finance a full schedule of deliveries of EMB and widebody aircraft, if it desires.
