US Airways to Pay $1.8M in Employee Bonuses As Incentives Are Triggered by On-Time Arrivals

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- US Airways Group Inc. will pay $1.8 million in bonuses to employees as part of an incentive plan triggered by its on-time performance in December.

US Airways will pay 36,000 employees $50 each, the first time its incentive plan has paid out a bonus since March 2006.

congratulations, the employees deserve it no thanks to the broken tools provided by Tempe

please please let us not get a hat trick ... please oh please ...

Im happy at least we are getting something rather than nothing a full tank of gas for my little car!!!

It's not a surprise to me that we were #1 for on-time performance. Has anyone noticed how damn padded our flights are? I mean c'mon....1+35 PHL-BOS or 3:15 PHL-FLL. Oh even better PHL-DFW at 4+04. You can leave a destination a half hour late and STILL get in early. Now I'm not saying that our awesome US employees don't bust their hoonies to get this craphole going BUT those times are UNREAL. What's next, 7 hour block times for PHL-PHX?

Congrats to everyone and enjoy the $50.

That said, I've never understood the importance of this stat. Doesn't matter to me whether my flight arrives within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival time. All that matters to me is whether I make my connection, and I usually build in an hour to an hour and a half for most connections (sometimes longer if there's a particularly nice lounge at my connecting hub). If my first flight arrives 30 minutes late and I still have 30-60 minutes to make my connection, all is right with the world. The DOT's obsession with this meaningless 15 minute rule (and the corresponding obsession by airlines with it) makes no sense to me.

I wonder which is more important to the passenger. Arriving on time or arriving a few minutes late and getting their luggage. I was told that US did a survey a few years ago and the answer was on time. Of course the passengers that were surveyed were mostly business travelers that usually carry most of what they need with them.

When you have people booking 25 minute connections in PHL and trying to go from the F terminal to the B terminal, every second is critical. The stat is only important to the airlines because the media makes a huge deal out of the results.

Bingo! - US Airways is buying their way into the rankings. Unfortunately they can't buy their way out of 9th place for mishandled bags and complaints.
That is because express in figure in mishandled baggage and not arrivals
