Us Airways Pittsburgh

When asked about it last month, Lakefield called his $425,000 compensation a "pimple" and said he needed the salary to support a second home in the Washington, D.C., area, away from his retirement home in Naples, Fla.

The company warned in bankruptcy documents Friday that management pay has to keep pace with the rest of the industry if it has any hopes of retaining key personnel.

Through October, according to the company, more than 250 management and administrative employees had left the company, with 20 percent of them taking positions at other airline companies, "most at higher pay."

US Airways said it needed to balance its desire to "share the pain" with the "market reality" of what is necessary to keep managers, adding, "Substantial departure of management employees could cripple" the airline.

Jetblue can find talented managers to work for under $200,000 a year. Guess Lakefield isn't looking hard enough.

Quality mgmt give me a break ...what about quality customer service or better yet quality employees period .....this is a joke any excuss to keep their salary.

I'm getting sick again.................................... :censored:

first of all the article states that the airline would have to rely on heavy help from pennsylvania to keep the hangar open but it dont mention how clt would help usair with their maintaince. what is the differenc is it the fact that the clt could handle the 330s and pit cant?? also why does lakefield need a home with 425000 a yr when he can stop receiving checks and rent an apartment for roughly 5 to 800 range?

The company disclosed its maintenance closure plans in documents filed Friday with a U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Alexandria, Va., citing $40 million it can save in rent, utilities and shop supplies.

But it did not provide details about which facility would get the ax, and airline spokesman David Castelveter yesterday said the company had not yet made up its mind.

This statement only proves that some people will do or say anything for cash.

linemech.

maybe why the spina and company running around foaming at the mouth??
PE=1's do tend to motivate you to get the check across the tracks......how's production in CLT these days?? i heard tell they were grounding revenue flights off the gate for misc reasons and deplaning passengers....
don't recall it happening in PIT.
MY HERO

All I have to say here is:

USA320PILOT enjoyed every min. of writing this.. Every single min. If ever I have seen
someone so dead set against a group of employee's its this person.

There is nothing that would make that person happier than to see all of Mtc Farmed
out to the lowest bidder.. I think that person is a member of management.

Regardless of whichever facility gets closed? , with 100% outsourcing of U's Heavy Maintenance being the mantra ,I can assure everyone of this. U will fail and fail quickly!

U is living or rather surviving on it's ability to rob parts from the B737's , B757's and B767's while in Heavy Checks to keep the active fleet flying. In the past our only saving grace on the A330's has been the ability to rob them while in C-Check in CLT. This ability is going away as the first A330 check in Mobile is upon us.

The narrow body Airbus fleet has survived the outsourcing issues purely based on spares being built into the schedule here and there and the ability to rob Aircraft that are out of service due to "Un-Scheduled" maintenance due to ground damage or damage due to the elements...lets not forget the number of un-scheduled Aircraft for down time for reasons of corrosion under thier LAVS and Galleys in this fleet.

Spare Acft being built into the schedule will be going away as more Aircraft are returned to the lessors...and as the new inhanced fleet utilization plan unfolds.

Simply put...without the ability to ROB parts from Aircraft in either CLT or PIT..the active fleet is going to suffer greatly...and the pain will get passed on to the very people whom we are supposed to be serving. This is is not to imply a concern over safety..but a concern of excessive delays and cancellations in the name of safety. NO PARTS means NO FLY.

Talk about a painfull clause....if Maintenance suffers? WE ALL SUFFER !!!

Welcome to the NFL boys and girls....and in the case of U , It means NOT FOR LONG.

Like I really believe that! I the company gets this new contract, their maintenance costs will be lower than Timco's!

Humor keeps one sane in insane times. Insane being a management who is killing it's employees with one give back after another while a few individuals stand on the sidelines cheering their sick chants of: it's reality__ it's reality__ it's reality......reality is the people chanting are in need of professional help, especially when they sit in a cockpit
