Us Airways Names James Schear Restructuring Vp

Does anybody know his story? Interesting that he would leave a secure government job AND one that had just been restructured, itself, for U. I mean, I would not think that his FAA job would have been dead end. He would have just recently been selected for the position.

I'd think this would suggest that U is serious in a big way about transforming.... oh I mean ...... restructuring.

Also, note, he is an operational guy.

US Airways' announcement that it has hired former US Airways Captain Jim Schear to become the company’s new vice president of restructuring is outstanding news.

Jim retired from US Airways a few years ago and took a senior management position at the TSA and then with the FAA. During his first stint at US Airways Jim held a number of management positions including heading up the "Restore Confidence" program and a B767 check airman.

Jim has an in-depth knowledge of US Airways, his appointment is best news I have heard at our company in recent memory, and I believe bodes well for the company's transformation.

Jim, Bravo Zulu and welcome aboard Skipper!

Very respectfully,

USA320Pilot

well maybe - just maybe - the vp of restructuring is the one to get rid of the deadwood in CCY and implement the cost down on the internal side.

There has always been a question of where the balance of the $ was coming from or why isn't CCY getting cut.

Maybe this is how they will do it. Sometimes you need a hatchet person from the outside.

Hang Tough!!

Phillyguy <has purchased 3 RT on U in the past 36 hours>

You may be onto something Phillyguy. I hope his first stop is the office of Al Crellin. He's the absolute worst person for the job he holds and should've been replaced during BK#1. There is no way he's going to survive BK#2 but dumber things have happened.

SURE I'LL TAKE ANOTHER PAYCUT TO BRING ON ANOTHER VP.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.....

I DON'T THINK SO.....

AND THEY WONDER WHY WE ARE SINKING FAST.

jim schear is a highly respected aviator and leader...some folks would say,

that needs to be said here. interesting that he elected to return..

Some folks just love the industy. The on-call managers at CCY make about $25,000 a year, which is pretty damned low in the D.C. area.

I agree with USA320pilot. Capt. Schear was openly disdainful and disgusted with management at the beginning of the Siegel era, just before he retired. A great sign, IMO. He's someone who won't put up with the nonsense that has become commonplace at US Airways. It may be a drop in the bucket of this cesspool, but it can't hurt.

by the way , with this navy theme on going....maybe the company can make a deal, save millions of dollars and consolidate what back office services that are still located in pit with ccy
and move it all to annapolis or fll or.......
