Us Airways Mechanics Do Not Expect Giveback Deal

I apologize for my ignorance in advance, but, if the machinist walk out will the airline be forced to shut down or are there other accomodations they can make?

Its over

I think its very important for folks to understand here. This is fast becoming a legal issue, and law will dictate.. If IAM cannot reach a deal, its obvious the outcome for that group. For the majority of Mechs, thank you for your service, it appears the days of IAM being on this property are closing fast. I also think Mang. is fully prepared for actions this week, I think it will become clear to Iam and the travl. public, that USAIR will continue to operate, without IAM .Just an opinion, but hey, time will tell. IAM is no better than any other union on this property. To be honest, IAM knows theres little incentive here, because in the end, they will lose about the same numbers either way.

How can cutting a deal that prevents you (IAM) from "Giving Back" 100% of your income (C-7) be a bad thing?

Because the many out weight the few. “The (Many) That Will Lose Regardless“...come on Bob, I get on you that's true, but I KNOW you are not that stupid.

Don't forget that along with them everyone else Fly Child, Oh my little Fly Child so innocent, blissfully so innocent you are___Yea Right

ASSUMING that the AFA agrees, I think it looks really bad that the IAM is the ONLY union that could not agree. If there were several unions that would not agree to concessions, it would be easier.

Now, whether the company is able to step around the IAM for the betterment of everyone else is the real question.

Is there a subcontractor waiting in the wings? Is that possible or legal or safe? Will the company and GE Capital cave at the last minute? (I would doubt that considering the dollar figures associated with the mechanic's contract.)

This will be an interesting week.

Best of luck to everyone.

He, the judge, wants the airline to survive. Well then, he better damn well do the right thing. If he throws the contract out, turn out the lights.

usfliboi,

Thank you , Ya smug little Geek...You too will be seeking other employment just as fast as the next person if the IAM is run off the property.

U cannot stand any further degree of disruption of any discription....and what your continued brainless rants entails leads to exactly that. So put that in your crack pipe and smoke it chum.

U management cannot keep the fleet flying without legitimate labor in place...and time will not weigh in their favor on doing so due to training and security concerns alone. You cannot find people to simply step in and hope to meet the criteria outlined in the MPP...that is also signed off and agreed to by the FAA. Even U's slippery management can't change the federal guidlines on security and training certification...even if they could? 7 days of lost revenue would be game over ..but we all know 7 days won't get authorized replacements in place

Simply put...No IAM , NO U....No agreements , No YOU either.....grasp the facts or STFU

Face it Mr Clownmaster...you have hitched your wagon to a falling star from another lost galaxy.

I see why you call your self PHANTOM! Usair will not fail, TAKE THAT TO THE BANK! Some people dig their grave with a shovel, IAM just used a back Hoe! For those of you who continue to use threats as if US cannot survive without IAM your gonna see your dead wrong. There are thousand sand thousands of laid off mechs, wholl jump at the chance, This is becoming a basic legal matter, and based on legalities alone, there will either be a us without IAM or a USAIR with IAM . Plan simple, Reality! Bark all you want! WOOF WOOF!

fliboi...

The IAM is not going anywhere, that is not how things work.

But, that does not mean that there will not be dramatic changes around here either.

Once again, national unions will do, what national unions do... and take care of their main interests first. Thus the specific rhetoric you have seen from the IAM (vs. the overly dramatic, and inane fluff the AFA spouted off about a "nationwide strike")

Just because a contract is abrogated, does not remove that union from the property... Nor relieve it from the responsibility to keep as many of that unions membership employed as possible (save jobs).

At that point it will be up to the IAM leadership to decide if they want to lose 9000 dues paying members forever, or a precentage of that total to save their future representation of US Airways Mechanics and IAM-FSA.

Unions are as much a business as the companies their members work for. It would be smart to keep that in mind...

Good Luck to all.

Im not saying their gone, but its obvious the boots are on for walking, and if that happens, they will be replaced. Dont get angry at me dude, thats my opinion. Theres too much at stake now, and the majority of employees have spoken. Its IAm choice if they dont wanna take cuts, but they will have to pay the price of refusal.!

Yeah. Just like they aced Christmas, a predictable, repeated situation. If the mechanics walk, I think its over. Greeter.

Who's being smug here. Sounds to me like you guys are eaten up with self importance. The sups won't walk and neither will the foremen. I'd guess quite a few are so fed up with IAM about now, they'd like the chance to work without the BS.

They used to say pilots thought the world revolved around them. Guess they will say that about you guys now.
