Something that has been mentioned in previous threads about the subject but not in this one is that even though this is about replacing 737's the oldest 757's ( the 10 ex-Eastern birds on the east side and many of the west ones) will also need to be replaced soon and the 321 does not offer what the 739ER does. Perhaps a split order could happen, 319's to replace the 733's, 738's for the 734's and 739ER's for the oldest 757's. The reason I say 738's and not 320's for the 734's is to have a decent size 737NG fleet as 10-20 739ER's and no other 737NG's probalby would not make economic sense.

And that's my 2 cents !

Regards

According to Flight's ACAS database, US Airways has 56 737-300s and 40 737-400s on lease from several lessors. Three 737s and one Boeing 757 will be returned to lessors during the first quarter, Parker says, adding that US Airways intends to operate a mainline fleet of 364 aircraft by the end of 2007.
.

Does anyone know if the three 737's and one 757 being returned will be from East or West metal?

Lets hope for Boeing (and not just because Airbus is crud)

More worrisome for EADS is the possibility that strikes or slowdowns could disrupt Airbus assembly lines. On Feb. 2, as thousands of workers took part in protests at Airbus's German factories, a representative of the IG Metall union warned that labor disruptions could force the company "to revise its delivery schedules for 2007."

would you please just stay in the delta board. we have nothing to do with delta anymore and you guys have nothing to do with usairways anymore. thank you .

Etops1-With all due respect, you can't ask someone not to post on a certain board-just because you don't like what they have to say. If that was the case, the DL board would look very differently. I'm just a number-you're just a number-remember that. It's business.

I hope this order goes toward Boeing. US has a great deal of Boeing aircraft, 737-3,737-4,757 and 767, while on the airbus side we fare the same with the 319,320,321 and 330. I think Boeing planes are much more reliable, and its time we got some new boeings in the fleet, its good to see a mix of both A and B.
i hope 737-900ER is the next to come, and for widebodies, i wish we had some 777 or 767-400ERs.

I would like to see some 738's and some 739ER's in the US fleet. For W/B's I say the 777 and the 763 would be great.

Several months ago there were stories about Austrian selling their 330-200's. Have they found a buyer? It seems like these planes would be a good stop-gap measure for US Airways.

Don't get me wrong, Boeing makes a fine aircraft, but we already have the Busses and it's simply a matter of "adding to" and not "ramping up" for a new aircraft. Our pilots cannot step out of the 737-300 and into the NG. What is the point of spending all that money on training aids, simulators and spare parts. This is just the tip of the iceburg.

Someone else made a comment previously regarding the reliability of the Airbus. I fly them all the time and have an absolute minimum of problems with them. The utilization on the A-321 is staggering. Those aircraft criss-cross the country all day and night with few delays (aircraft related).

Order the A-320 family and get on with it.

I just found this. It is in Portugese but basically it is saying TAP is negotiating for an Austrian A330.

what's your fetish with powdered creamer?

do you like the stuff? if you say you do, then you are just sucking up...for you, the stuff is a mess. Have you had any pax rip it open and the dust goes everywhere? Have you tried to wipe that stuff up?

to me, the switch to powdered creamer represents Tempe's lack of care for the customer and their continued degradation of the FC (well, what used to be FC) product. it shows that that some idiot reads a spreadsheet without thinking about the impact of a stupid decision beyond saving a penny or two. Have I encountered powdered creamer before? Sure, I have. But, what has Tempe done?

Shall I remind you again???? Degradation of the coffee product, No glassware (broken that promise a bazillion times), degradation of the snack basket to generic snacks and little rotating, degradation of the wines offered in FC, terrible meals in FC, taking out of closets in FC, limiting overhead space in FC, and drumroll please....the switch to powdered creamer...I'm sure the next change will be something that none of us even considered that will save them half a penny per customers that fly on Fridays and Tuesdays.

And, what irritates me more is that The Divine Miss Sherri I don't want powdered creamer in MY coffee Shamblin thinks that HP's, I mean, US's customers prefer powdered creamer.
