What's new

US Airways is at it again

Pearls of wisdom, logic and truth are certainly worth being repeated. Seems my list of fans is growing. All we need now is another 60 million or so previously entitlement blinded liberals to see things my way and this nation might just avoid insolvency and economic ruin. Spread the word John John. 😉

If you get 60 million more fans that will give you a total of 60 million and one.

Your "pearls of wisdom" are more like trite hackneyed Cliff Notes of particularly brainless Faux News spewings.

Most of the really smart people I know are also very humble. You, sport, are neither.

Save the nation if we would see things your way...?

Chip, is that you? Do you have a website were we can donate?

Do you even watch Fox News? Can you post a link to a single video or news article that sounds anything even remotely similar to any of the views I have posted? Which candidate or political commentator has called for the complete and total elimination of the Social Security program, Medicare, Medicaid, Prescription Drugs, Income Security programs as the first order of business to getting federal spending down to realistic levels? If someone like that is out there I haven't run across them yet. I would be happy to throw my support behind such a national figure if someone had the guts and the rudimentary understanding of math and economics to propose the same ideas as me.

Our nation takes in $2.4 trillion in receipts, spends $3.8 trillion in on-budget expenditures and carries an ever-increasing debt of more than $15 trillion. That's like a person making $24,000 who spends $38,000 a year in non-tangible expenses (no assets to resell) and has $150,000 in credit card debt but only has about $10 worth of assets to show for all of that spending. Not only that, but this finance-challenged hypothetical person has already promised to pay $1,500,000 in the future over and above the deficit spending he has already engaged in. You could tax every dollar earned in the US over $250,000/year and you still wouldn't come up with enough cash to solve the deficit and debt problems. You can't fix the problem without cutting spending and you can't cut spending in a meaningful way unless you make massive cuts in the entitlement programs that created this mess in the first place. The numbers and the mathematics are really very simple, but the nation refuses to accept the truth so politicians lie about it so that they can retain power for as long as possible.

Do you belong to other message boards? If you are going to convince 60 million people to think like you, you might have to branch out a little.

Just another attempt to divert attention from reality of the rich owning our elected representatives.

Whatever decisions are made, or not made, in Congress were bought and paid for.

Just When You Thought It Couldn't Get Worse! Guess What? IT DID!

Why oh why does the airline go out of its way to make itself look bad? On PR issues they manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory EVERY TIME! If they were as consistent in on time performance as they at committing Public Relations Suicide, US Airways would be the best run airline in the world.

While I'm glad that in the end US Airways stepped up to the plate and did the right thing, it befuddles me to no end why they incur the massive PR hit BEFORE they do the right thing. Now they have the horrible PR and they're out $4.200.00 to boot. I really wish someone would explain that logic because apparently i'm missing something.
They had to wait for Doug to sober up and take a phone call!! MM! Him and that crack MNGMNT TEAM TEMPE!

Well then he needs to joint the message boards of the rich and famous. Being here, he's in the wrong place.

I gotta better idea why don't you support a candidate that doesn't feel every other nation has weapons of mass destruction, decides to impose AMERICA on other nations and keep our tax dollars within our own borders! Now that would be massive spending cuts!

I'm not certain this has a thing to do with Liberals or Entitlement. What it has to do with IMO is:

1. How we as a nation that professes to be Christian treats those who have been dealt a bad hand in one way or another.
2. How a company responds when things do go wrong.
3. When is "Non-Refundable" really NON-REFUNDABLE?

I'll start with three and work back,

When is "Non-Refundable" really NON REFUNDABLE? - US needs a policy that is clear, concise and communicated! A clear line as to when US says to a customer "To Bad, So Sad we're not issuing a refund" and there should at that point NO EXCEPTIONS. Breaking up with your Girlfriend and cancelling your vacation is not a reason for US to issue a refund. Conversely, the situations reported should result in a full refund, especially with the Cancer patient and her family. IMO, since US is making an exception they have the right to ask for any and all supporting documentation as they desire prior to issuing a refund or favorable terms. US, by having some "wiggle room" in their rules, policies & procedures benefits both US and customers. As we all know people are unique, like the situations they find themselves in. One size does not fit everyone. US needs to be ready to resolve the unusual.

How a company responds when things do go wrong - Every company drops the ball. The bad one hide and refuse to interact, The good ones respond on a very basic often uncaring manner but usually do right by the customer. The lady had to use the media to wide up US. This is not what great is. Great is when you're stressed and you call and explain your situation, the rez agent replies, "Don't be upset Mrs Sparrowhawk I just need to take some basic information and let's see how we can help, OK" Agent asks the appropriate questions and depending the answers responds, "I'm so sorry to learn of your illness. Our policy is we will issue a full refund providing we receive the following from your doctor". So depending upon where a person falls in the hardship line, US responds according the severity of the situation. US comes out smelling like a rose this last way.

IMO, we are all morally obligated to help the Brethren. If money is free speech and corporations are people when it comes to political contributions then logic dictates that said Corporation does indeed have the same obligations to those who draw the short straw in life.

When I was doing more back channel stuff, US was EXTREMELY good IMO in handling these types of things. Publicly they aren't so hot. Get to the right person on the down low and they're terrific frankly.

Regarding A, isn't the policy no refund? I'll admit to not knowing our rules chapter and verse, but it seems pretty consistent that non refundable is just that...

Until we get to B. The company refused to refund a non refundable ticket. According to your A that's the thing to do; have a policy and stick with it. It was only when the customer wasn't happy with following the rules that things got out of hand.

IMO, we are all morally obligated to help the Brethren. If money is free speech and corporations are people when it comes to political contributions then logic dictates that said Corporation does indeed have the same obligations to those who draw the short straw in life.

Companies aren't here for morality, they're here for profit. I admit there isn't necessarily anything wrong with "doing the right thing" whatever that might be, but that's subjective, and goes beyond what they're obligated to do. In addition, doing the right thing, again, violates your A, which is sticking to the policy. So which is it? Stick with the policy? Stick with the policy, but make exceptions anyway? Treat each passenger differently?

The airlines transport human beings
Verbatim rules sometime don’t fit into the equation
Maybe a human fund for airlines and BIG BERTHA can be CEO
