Saw this on another board:

US Airways Express will end services to Billings, MT effective Jan. 10, 2006. The company has served Billings since Oct. 27, 2002 as America West Express with 16 employees.

I'll admit to not having a clue as to the former HP system, so I couldn't tell you how the route was performing, it's possibly just a route they tried out and didn't work. No harm in that.

But I'll bet the reason they decided to get rid of the service now is because of the Mesa birds moving from PHX to CLT. Whether leaving BIL was a good idea or not, as a larger issue, this company needs more planes.

Don't forget the codeshare with Big Sky Airlines, which ably covers Montana. Who knew MT even had that many cities? Maybe they are individual homes. :)

Cities Served:

Colorado: Denver
Idaho: Boise
Montana: Billings, Bozeman, Glasgow, Glendive, Great Falls, Havre, Helena, Kalispell, Lewistown, Miles City, Missoula, Sidney, Wolf Point
Oregon: Portland
Washington: Moses Lake, Spokane
Wyoming: Jackson Hole, Sheridan
Aircraft: Fleet of 10 nineteen-passenger Beech 1900D, Metro III and Metro 23 aircraft.
Code Share Partners: Northwest Airlines, America West Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Horizon Air. Connecting passengers to these airlines are afforded one-stop check-in service and receive frequent flyer mileage for Big Sky segments.

Does anyone remember the stand-up skit that Joan Rivers did about Billings, Montana back in the 80's?

It appears that the "ole" US marketing people are still at the helm. Montana,
Idaho and Wyoming are high yield destinations with hugh volume through out the
summer, hunting season and ski season. They also have hugh feed to the Carribean
and Central America. NW cut it flights, as has Delta, to these areas. This would be a
great time to establish our service but instead we are pulling out. After the US Air,
Piedmont and PSA we pulled out of more cities than Southwest goes to and with
each pull out we cut revenues faster than we cut expenses. God I hope HP's
marketing has more sense.
