Us Airways Expects To File

I think we're all interested to see this POR. I'm very curious what they plan to use for exit financing (along with UA whenever they decide to get around to submitting a POR).

USFlyer, provided the AFA ratifies their tentative agreement and the IAM reaches their cost cut target, one way or the other, then US Airways will announce its $100 million in additional liquidity and exit financing. It’s my understanding that Ron Stanley has been working on these two issues and the final agreements will be announced next month, after January 6.

Part of the POR should be a plan to dump the entire corporate identity: dump the name, the logo, the paintjob, the uniforms, the colors, the graphics. Eastern, Piedmont, United East, Metrojet, Allegheny, United Star Airways, Virgin America..... ANYTHING would be better than US Airways. US Airways carries the stigma of super bad karma..... the stigma of NOT wanting to run an airline... NOT wanting to compete for customers... NOT even wanting a marketplace, but rather the business plan of buying your competition to establish a monopoly and segmenting market to extort monopolistic fares from certain segments. GET RID OF IT.

At one point, Siegel considered changing the name back to Piedmont. I agree, though, a totally new livery, name, etc. is desperately needed. US really needs a fresh start.

'US Airways' is a totally empty corporate nothing. It's identity-less. EdwinAir...... ways would have been better. BE an airline.

I still believe judging by the effects of a few unhappy campers throughout the system during the Christmas Holiday that if U managment reaches their cost saving with the IAM via "the other" the company will shutter their doors. The number of unhappy employee's will increase tenfold........and the result would be more than a meltdown. So all should hope that both sides come to some sort of an agreement otherwise????????

Once chapter 7 hits I'm sure the Piedmont name will bring in some big bucks!!!
The bird will fly again, as high and as proud as it once did!!!!!!

The damage to the customers and to the employees has already been done. All the rah, rah, rah, from USA320 won't change that. They can file whenever they want it won't make any difference. I'm afraid its over 320, but nice try. Savy

Piedmont adorned E170's would make me heave, and would be a smear to a once proud airline. Redubing it Piedmont, with the "plans" they are making, current management and operations would be like crappin on the Mona Lisa.

Keeping with the thoughts of teamwork we can just send some guys to UAL to give them a POR. We seem to hatch a new one every few years, cracking one out from them should be no problem. :D

Then the airline will just be the same old whore in a new dress.

There once was a proud "Up And Coming Airline" whose beautiful blue speedbird soared accross the skies. It's memory has already been #### on enough by allowing that little puddle jumper outfit to currently use its name. I would prefer that it's memory not be further tarnished by changing U's name back to Piedmont but keeping the same management team we currently have intact.

I agree. At this point we could probably do better naming the airline "ValuJet" than keeping it USAirways. But renaming it "Piedmont," would definitely be a near blasphemy. As REACC1 said, it would be like "crappin on the Mona Lisa."
