WASHINGTON - Low-cost air carrier AirTran had the best performance of the 16 largest U.S. air carriers last year, pulling ahead of previous leader Hawaiian Airlines in an annual study of airline quality.

Most media is making a big deal about how the airlines improved performance but that complaints are up but I have yet to see one mention of the DOT's big push to encourage more respones (complaints).
