Unveiled new US Airways website!

No large airline has ever rolled out its new website without major problems. Look at Frontier they had to put the old one back up for a while. There is no full proof way to have every possible bug to be noticed until after release.
Both AirTran and Frontier pulled their new sites. Honestly though when looking up a schedule for PHL-CLT and those aren't cities USAIrways doesn't serve, it's more than a mere bug. I'm having to go to the ETC to look up flights.

The low fare finder is much better and you can now see first class fares on the same display as coach. Small things but they are revolutionary tools compared to the tools that the old US site was capable of.

The "low fare finder" is nice, but it does not provide the same functionality that the "search by price" function did. Ideally the website will offer both of these options (as in, taking the best from each airline, blah blah...)

I'm just grateful that I don't have any trips to book in the next few days. But, if I did, US would probably lose the sale simply because they're making it way too difficult to book on their own website.

I was shocked at first as well. I thought the creativity of the site is very underwhelming. This was a create time to unveil a great website. It is an also ran from a look and feel perspective.

I miss the by price option and fare class lookup per flight.

However, the profile system is a great upgrade. I was able to put my entire family in the system so I don't have to key their data in when I make them a reservation.

There are some positives and negatives. I just wish they would have hit this out of the park.

I got alot of error messages too. All I can think of is that, like the employee site, thousands more hit than usual to SEE the new site caused alot of problems. I'm not sure if the very best IT's could prevent that, but then I'm not an IT person.

I must say the website was abit disappointing as I was hoping for something visually more dynamic...not sure what that is. AND, I like fun stuff about the carrier and found NOTHING. There was NO list of a/c, what we fly, what they look like, or how they are configured. Let's hope it improves with time.

Script Errors in Internet Explorers

SYMPTOMS
A Web page may not display or work correctly, and you may receive an error message that is similar to any one of the following error messages:

Problems with this Web page might prevent it from being displayed properly or functioning properly. In the future you can display this message by double-clicking the warning icon displayed in the Status Bar.

If you click Show Details, error details that are similar to the following error details may appear:

Line: 1008
Char: 1
Error: 'sma_AXA' is undefined
Code: 0
URL: http://www2.usairways.com/awa/default.apx

The following warning message may also appear in the Microsoft Internet Explorer Status bar:

Done, but with errors on page.

I'm sending an error message reporting to US Airways Internet Technical Support about this this problems.

I have no problems with Safari browser on Apple iMac G5. But Microsoft IE browser stinks!

I spent about 10 minutes poking around the new site today. I found the following issues:

Takes 15 seconds to load on a 3Mbit connection...too slow

Unable to find a reservation on usairways.com that is served by *A (i.e. PHL->SIN)

System will only return reservations that are US flights or US codeshared flights.

System does not recognize the existance of business class on 3-class equipment. (Ex. PHL-NRT. US 6841 on UA is a 3 class 777, as such you should be able to book business. System will only let you book coach & first).

System will not let you build an itineray using the multicity function. Get routing and pricing via http://www.itasoftware.com/. System prices each segment out individually, resulting in a higher price.

Booked ticket on site 5/21/2006, PHL->ANC. Sight generated error message at purchase. Ticket is booked on HP stock instead of US stock. CP Desk had difficult time finding out if the reservation actually took.

If you go to Travel Planning in the horizontal navigation bar and select Shuttle/Express it takes you to a page only on US Airways Express. You need to then click on the link on the veritual navigation area in the left hand rail to select Shuttle Information. Confusing. Not user friendly.

Envoy Class page does not have disclaimer that some items are not available on the B767 aircraft. Says "Satellite telephones and laptop power ports at every seat" last I checked the B767 had not been refurbished to have laptop power.

On the Star Alliance Mileage Accural Chart, under United Airlines, a Z fare is discounted business not an Economy Class fare.

Aircraft seating diagrams are missing.

On the US Airways Fleet page, all aircraft appear to be the same size.

The Embraer 190 aircraft has the US Airways Express label on it. All current indications is that this will be a mainline aircraft.

Missing terminal maps of hubs & focus cities.

US Airways chronological history is only available as a .doc file. Should be PDF, .doc can spread macro viruses and not everyone has MS Word.

Chronological history only contains information os HP.

On the Star Alliance mbmer benefits page, states "Airport Lounge Access - available worldwide for you and a friend5 when you travel with any Star Alliance airline regardless of your class of travel." Currently only given to a US *G member on an international itineray that leaves North America.

Current month's activity should appear on front page of the frequent flyer account screen. Must click on link in left rail.

Much less detail on mileage summary screen.

I'm currently working on a website redesign for my company. It has less functionality then the old site. It is buggy and in some cases it looks like someone just cut and pasted content from other sources without checking it. If I released a site like this, I'd be fired.

Leaves North America? *G can use any Star Gold lounge worldwide regardless of the itinerary.

Previously there was a * on the old US website for US *G that refined the rules. You must be on an international itinerary and Canada, Mexico, Central America & the Carribean were excluded, basically you must be leaving North America in order to use any of the USAir Clubs.

UA has the same type of restrictions except that you get it on any international intererary. This meant as a US *G flying to Canada I could use the RCC in PHL but was denied access to the USAir Club. On UA's computer system see S*RCC/ADMIT for the full details (if anyone is interested I can post the full contents of it).

Off hand, I am hard pressed to think of either a domestic US station that has a *G lounge in it that is not a RCC or a USAir Club that is accessible within security. LAX, SFO, JFK, you all need to change terminals to get to other *A lounges.

Although with the * gone, I'm flying on Thursday to ANC and I'll try to get in the USAir Club in PHL with just a US *G. I'm willing to bet I will be denied access and that the webmaster goofed and the rules haven't changed.

*G can use any Star Gold lounge worldwide as long as they are on an international itinerary, with US-Canada, US-Mexico and US-Caribbean excluded. Meaning, I could be flying Frankfurt to Tokyo and can use a *G lounge. That is not an itinerary that includes "leaving North America".

But it is an international itinerary and you do not run across any USAir Clubs on that itinerary. Either case it doesn't really matter since we are arguing semantics.

The point is the exclusions are no longer on the new website.

I've received an email message from Julie as US Airways Internet Support Specialist says, Thank you for taking the time to report this error in our system and helping to better our website! This is a known 'bug' and will be fixed in a timely manner. Thank you again for your feedback and your support of our airline.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reply http://www2.usairways.com/awa/content/cont...upportform.aspx or call our USAirways Internet Support Desk at (800) 327-7810.

The website and combined frequent flyer plans was debuted starting May 21st and integration will run until June 9th.

Be patience! <_<
There are many bugs and they are working on them. Whenever a new system is released there are always many problems and on the west side we knew it would happen. Julie is a very close friend of mine and is very competent. If the problem is a sytem error she will jump through hoops to fix your immediate problem. Last nite she spend 50 min with the International Dept to solve an issue for a pax. If there is anything that can be done, she will get it corrected and usually with a great sense of humor. She is one of those co workers who you love to work with. Just a heads up she had an extreme number of emails to reply to and is also supporting many of the internet support agents putting out the fires. If she does not respond quickly it is due to an overwhelming amount of workload not due to an uncaring attitude. Yes, patience will add years to your life right now.

Well, it is working better than yesterday, but the formatting still stinks. What was wrong with the old website--remember all of the problems with that site? And now, we want it back. It was good once they fixed it. I don't think I'll feel the same about this one because it's just too darn busy. These Tempe people love to cram a lot of crap on a page--I'd hate to sit through one of their powerpoint presentations.

Ah, there is a reason the Starbucks on Mill Ave does such a brisk business... ;)

What was wrong with the old website

It was owned lock, stock, and barrel by EDS, so the design couldn't come over.

You guys should hear the conference calls about it. If you ever want to hear a group of people breaking their own arms to pat themselves on the back...
