And, you expect a/c mechanics to be any different from those folks who loudly bemoan the outsourcing of American manufacturing jobs as they stroll the aisles of Wal-Mart? Everyone is ready to feel your pain, just not do anything to alleviate it--particularly if it costs them money.

No, I do expect them to refuse overtime work when a company is laying off.

Let the company declare an emergency and force the overtime.

(BTW, I do not shop at Wal-Mart and none of my money gets spent there in my family)

There a few things sleazier than someone profiting off another's misery... Anyone working OT while others at their point are on layoff should be ashamed of themselves. Their coworkers should also never let them forget what they're doing/have done.

They should have refused OT out of loyalty and respect for their friends
and coworkers who lost their jobs...and also to make a statement.

Hi folks,

It's pretty tough out here right now, hard to find a good job with the economy the way it is. Sometimes I wonder whether leaving UAHell was the right thing to do after all but reading these boards sure makes me feel like it and don't miss it one bit. I'm taking HVAC training and I think that will lead me to a better world in the long run. Good luck to you folks who are still there.
