Then You Need To Change Your Screen Name..It's Not Becoming Of You!
Then get the hell out and shut your fat trap!!! With an attitude like that we don't want you around here anyway. And I have news for you, I have relatives that work for UA and they're all pretty much in agreement that the employees at UA are fed up and miserable as well. Everybody has their bad eggs and their absolute saviors. And why do you assume that I still fly on US? What a horrible, tactless way to talk about something ... I think using the word abortion to describe anything in a failed humor attempt is repugnant.Oh god I hope this can't be true! Why would UA want to buy this abortion of an airline and ruin itself with the acquisition?
May it only be that UA wants the routes, gates, and planes, and gets rid of the jokers that are running this airline and all of the miserable employees that go with it!

As an EMPLOYEE, my sentiments exactly. You raise certain points that cannot be overlooked. Maybe you and I were raised in a different era, have higher expectations and will not settle for mediocre. There are many good, quality employees here at USAirways.....people that I would not hesitate to hire at our Business in a heartbeat. On the otherhand, we also have a group of people that not only are poor representatives for the Airline, but not exactly CUSTOMER Service oriented individuals........you know the type "I can't, shouldn't, will not etc...". Morale around here took a major hit after BK1, and BK2 only fueled the fire so to speak. The Dave Siegal era brought on the US vs Them thinkology, standards slipped and then Team Tempe and their Frat Party/Tailgate mode of operation rode into town. Several months ago I ran into Stephen Wolf at the airport and spent a good 15 minutes relaying how far things have fallen and he stated "I've heard". There are MANY employees that are bothered by the poor performance of the airline (and the pilots are probably the most disgusted because of all their sacrifices over the years, and yet they say little anymore). From a Customers perspective, my head would be spinning.Clearly, with this sort of attitude, you're one of the saviors, right? Not. Perhaps a bit of introspection is in order.
When I flew solely on US, I suppose I came to believe that lousy service was "normal." And by service, I mean: the surly agent; the FA reading People magazine and grousing about his/her job to the customer seated in the exit row adjacent to the jump seat; the unintelligible reservations agent in MNL; the piss-poor dry-chicken-on-foccacia-with-wilted-lettuce-and-a-glob-of-fatty-caesar-dressing that passes for lunch; ratty interiors; filthy lavs; disheveled uniforms and greasy hair...etc.
Now that I've "branched out" and have seen what other airlines have to offer, I can tell y'all 1st hand something many of you already know: US' service, image and product are lousy, and its gotten worse since the pre-teens in Tempe took over. Those boobs wouldn't know class if it walked in the front door of their trailer and slapped them in the face. Maybe UA employees are fed up, but from my experience, you'd never know it from the way they interact with the public. Maybe DL has lost some of its luster, but to me they still present a clean airplane, a hassle-free travel experience, a functioning web site, and employees who act professionally. Maybe that's why I'm Medallion on them and zilch on US, even though I live in a US city, have many friends who work there, and still have some strange underlying sense of loyalty?
I always thought airplane lavs were SUPPOSED to smell that way until I started flying OAL.
Perhaps US is still suffering from the delusion that it has a lock on air travel like it did for years in many of the markets it served? I don't know what it is, but maybe Tempe would be spending its money more wisely if it bought some rank-and-file employees some ZEDs so they can compare.
United still makes a lot of sense for an acquistions standpoint, with the lack of fleet commonality the biggest issue. I could really care less about the name, as long as Charlotte keeps its hub and international service. It seems to me that PHL could be the biggest loser, though I'm sure they wouldn't lose all their international service.
I've head speculation that IAD would suffer more in a merger, but I just can't imagine that United would let that decline in favor of a greater share at DCA. With PHL so horrific with trans-atlantic ops, I can't imagine they'd keep that over IAD. CLT just doesn't have the O/D traffic to shift a large portion of traffic their either....maybe some of the South American routes.
I'd really like to see PHX dropped as a hub. I've read that Denver doesn't do that well, but its a modern facility that's easy to navigate, and more "on the way" for cross-country travellers.
I do agree that any insider "letting it slip out" without it reach a large audience, certainly intends for it to reach people. There could be a mutlitude of reasons, but public disclosure has never made a deal easier to complete.
