Unions are Killing the ''Hand'', which feeds them

Dear DELETED

Inregards, the industry award to Piedmont in 1984. Piedmont existed to 1989. I wonder what happened to the last 5 years. Could the industry have changed?

So you fly Jet Blue or whomever now, but have to change flights and don't enjoy the same amenities.

Well you wanted cheaper dude, you got it. HAPPY NOW!

Why don't the pilots concede to allowing express to fly 109 seat RJ's in place of 109 seat F-100's or DC-9's?

I wonder? I don't actually know what you do except spew inaccurate info, but I'd bet if your comp wanted some one else to do your job for half price you might be a little testy.

This is earth calling. Lets see what could any Union have to gain by delaying a contract except a lost cost of living increase.

Rebuttal----What would a company gain by delaying a contract by say 5 year's? Hummm 5 years of cost of living maybe.

So you actually know of several airline labor groups with out representation who are thrilled with their situation.

Then you know of a lot of fictitious people I have never met. I have to take some umbrage at this little herion stupor that you seemed to have fallen into. The reason I say this is because anyone I have ever met in this industry is of like mind, in that if they are not represented, then they are praying for it.

So in your infinate wisdom you state that Mech's wages are up 47 percent over the last 10 year's.

My self, I'm some where around what I was making in 93, or less. Question--How much was it the last time you took your BMW in for service? For some reason unless you rented, I doubt less than 25 an hour.

So you believe that Wall Mart employees are happy at 6 dollars an hour and they have no trouble surviving at this wage rate.

It was at this point that I was sure that your reality check had bounced.

Good luck on your ride on the Twinky express to the Magic Kingdom.

Who do I blame for not being able to fly non-stop from LGA to my summer home in PBI? I am willing to fly into Miami or Orlando but your company has ended this non-stop service.

What kind of numbnut has a summer home in Florida?
Winter home?.. YES, but summer?

Uinvester,

You stated that ALPA was not allowing U to fly larger RJ''s.

This is incorrect. USAirways can operate all the RJ''s that they please, with no restrictions. U can put any kind of airplane on mainline that they want. ALPA already has an RJ payscale in the contract in the form of the F-28''s pay rates. And they are so close to regional payrates after the concessions that the difference is negligable.

U can fly Piper Cubs on mainline if they please, so your argument does not hold up. U has almost 1900 pilots on furlough who would have no objection to flying a 90 seat rj.

Kinda hits the nail right on the head! It's all about outsourcing of jobs. Plainly stated, we don't want to...period!
Good post!

"Wal-Mart can pay their employees $6 bucks an hour and still offer excellent customer service. To the mainline employees who state how US Airways cannot fill those $13 express jobs. I bet the majority of the former mainline employees are still working for that lower salary."

What? Have you even been in a Wal-Mart recently? It has gotten so bad I have stopped going there. Let''s face it, most of us have a lower expectation walking into Wal-Mart, so if the job is even done competently, we are satisfied. Let''s see a Wal-Mart employee deal with getting a customer to somewhere halfway around the globe, with flights being oversold and a line thunderstorms delaying flights. That would be a trick.

I don''t shop at Wal-Mart anymore, but it''s not because of shoddy service. Wal-Mart employees are quite helpful. The problem is the manufacturing quality of their products suck. I don''t like to buy broken stuff no matter how nice the cashier is.

Huh? This makes absolutely no sense. Let''s see...(thinking back to items purchased on last Wal-Mart trip)...how in the world are the Wilson brand socks, Northern brand TP, Mylanta brand antacid, and Frito-Lay brand snacks I recently purchased at Wal-Mart of different quality than if I had purchased those same items at any other retail store? Please enlighten me...

Those are all brand names........maybe JS buys the cheapest thing in the store. Thats the beauty of Wal-Mart.....everything you could want. From complete junk to very good quality.

All the stores I have been in latley are very dirty though, five second rule is recended in that place for sure!!!

Have to agree that most of the stores are dirty. I do find it interesting that the salaries of the managers of Walmart & Airline CEO are similiar. Maybe this is why many employees have filed lawsuits because Walmart has prevented them from establishing a union. It is sad that a multi-billion dollar company can't pay their employees decent salaries. A relative of mine has worked with that company for 8 years and is only making $9.70 hour now.

"Most hourly Wal-Mart workers earn less than $8.50 an hour, which amounts to $17,680 a year for a full-time worker."
"Many store managers have a base salary of $52,000, with bonuses often running $70,000 to $150,000."

It's only a matter of time that they will unionize...

For more information on Wal*Mart and other "working poor" jobs, I HIGHLY recommend the book "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not)Getting By in America" by Barbara Ehrenreich. Should be required reading.
