Out of just shy of 7,000 eligible voters...1800 some cast their votes. AMFA's attempt to justify outsourcing through a LOA failed...must be some members low on the kool-aid....and the 4-10's passed....yahhhhoooooo!

You UAL guys have truly disappointed me. It's pathetic that only 1836 people out of 6996 voted. How much easier could it have been than to vote over the phone. What a joke, how do you think mgmt. views this. That means that only 26% of the membership bothered to vote. 26%, mind boggling. Anything less than 90% should be shameful. You just sent a message to the company that most do not care what they do. 74% did not care about the Air Canada work and the OT rules, so it's no wonder the company walks all over us and does what they want. With this latest voter turnout, you sent a message to the company that most do not care what happens.

All the crying and moaning about having no say with the IAM, and it comes down to 24% participation. Why did we even bother then to get AMFA in? I hate to keep harping on the same point, but I just can't believe that 5,000 people didn't have a couple minutes to vote on the phone. Heck, you could have even voted while at work! Cry all you want about the pilots, but maybe they're where they are because they participate over 90% in votes like this, thus sending a message to the company that they all care.

It's different when 90%+ of the membership says no than when 26% of the membership says no.

So what is your complaint, NIGHTROACH? The UAL M+R voted on a proposed LOA and it got voted down. That is what democracy IS! If the IAM was still in power at UAL, that LOA would have been signed by IAM with NO VOTE or NO INPUT from the members. UAL AMFA members exercised their right to vote on LOA's, something we here will never see as long as the EVIL TWU is on the property at AA

You mean the AMFA membership at UAL got to vote on a letter of agreement. A letter that changes their contract, a letter that the twu says should not be the decided by the membership. Amazing!!!

Dearest Princess Kindofagash...I believe the facts speak for themselves. A small percentage of people even care enough to vote when their union, AMFA, asks to farm out their work...remarkable, even for a ditz like you.

Hey NIGHTROACH, I seem to remember some AA 727's that went to Delta for C-checks LOA NO VOTE from TWU. Or how about those MD-80's that went to AAR even though we have thousands of AMT's laid off from AA another LOA NO VOTE from TWU. Or how about the 757,767 APU shop at AFW- TWU allowed that whole shop to be outsourced to an outside vendor. I agree that there could have been more voter turnout, but the fact of the matter is UAL M+R has the right to vote and that we at the EVIL TWU don't! And NIGHTROACH you're the one using the picture of a GAY GREEN GUY as an AVATAR.

AMFA promotes democracy and makes it an integral part of the decision making process.

TWU fears democracy and wants to make the decision for you.

I'll choose AMFA

Just got word that the union agreed to different 4/10 guidlines between shops and aircraft overhaul where holidays are concerned. This deviates from the contract but did anyone get to vote on it, hell no, as usual a few people made a decision for everyone else with no democratic process involved. Out of 6,000 people 0 had an oportunity to cast their vote.

Just finished voting on the changes to the AMFA constitution and I've only been an associate member for a few months. I'm still waiting for the twu to send a ballot after 17 years.

So post the changes you have, are they for the benefit of most? And you have had the opportunity to belong to AMFA since it's inception, just go hire on at an AMFA repped airline....ooops..my bad...well...wait a bit for the furloughed to get back.

That would be about as easy as getting hired in at a twu repped airline unless you want to hire in as a building cleaner at tule, but in any case enough grade school drivel. The point being the membership is held out of the loop with the twu. The changes made have to do with holiday pay. Under the current contract if a holiday falls on your day off and you have a 4/10's schedule you get 8 hours pay for the holiday and no day off meaning you will receive 48 hours pay for the week. If the holiday falls on your day of work you get the day off and 10 hours holiday pay so you will receive 40 hours pay for the week.
Under the back door deal made with the twu and the company, shops will have a different holiday setup. If a holiday falls on your day off you will revert back to a 5/8's schedule for the week in order to keep from paying the 8 hours of holiday pay thus you only get 40 hours pay instead of 48 like the people in aircraft overhaul get. The people that have the holiday fall on their day of work will continue to stay on 4/10's for the week and get the holiday off. Looks like the concession stand is still open.

If you have it in you feel free to address the issue of voting on LOA's, constitutional changes, internationl reps etc. etc.

scorpion, do you know which little twu puke decided to sign a letter of agreement to allow that crap???

I wonder if 24% of the twu membership will get to vote on this??? Oh I forgot, the twu knows whats best for the "twu brothers and sisters", so no vote needed. Your just lucky to have a job, we'll git 'em next time. I'm filling out my twu "Speak up Speak Out Survey", and I just know it will change all this.

No, but according to the contract 4/10's have to go through the international so that leaves a pretty short list of the usual suspects.
(FYI) There were a few stores personal working 4/10's but they received aoi's informing them that it would end in seven days. Their chairman of stores was behind getting it stopped but not in seven days. It seems someone showed them in the contract were it says they have to have 30 days written notice in order to stop the schedule, so they are still on 4/10's for a few more weeks. There was a heated discussion on this issue and also on some other issues that relate to stores and all the changes made in how they bid or should I say don't have the right to bid shops now. These changes were made with no input from frontline stock clerks. It was suggested by the argueing parties to meet at the hall for a more indepth discussion on their differences!
