Jim, your entire post is one of the most astute posts I've seen on this board in a long tiime. And the above passage really hit the mark!

As with any business, be it US Airways or Acme Tools and Die, the employees pay for management errors. And the upper mgmt who caused the mess will still get jobs enabling them to pay for their house and kid's college.

Assuming the company gets its way, what will CCY's excuse be when they still can't make money. Until non labor costs are addressed, even draconian pay cuts will not save the airline. As has ben posted by me (and others with better understanding of business economics), even if everyone at the company worked for free, the CASM would only match, not beat, the LCCs.
