I will let those who will be there know about the buttons.

It sounds like you work in CLT Stop by and ask any questions you may have or have heard. Let your Union Brothers and Sisters know we will be there.

At this time I can't say I will vote for the TWU but it now appears best for the entire fleet service craft to have an election. I will make sure ORD does a 100% signup [approx. 50 cards].

regards,

Gee Tim, what happened to the latest union that Mike and you started?

Even the AGW's web page is gone.

700 in the end the goal for whichever Union is the representitive is to do what's best for the MEMBER'S and this being a democracy lets VOTE if IAM wins then they win and WE ALL have to make it work same goes for TWU.

In my own personal opinion as I stated earlier in this thread the problem is not the IAM itself its the Contract that was imposed on you and maybe soon enough on us as well.

I think the best thing in world and this is a dream but take the best of both contracts and intrgrate those as well as the seniority lists.

Sad thing was that with the current negotiating committee, those selected for the committee had no experience with negotiating a union contract. However, one guy who had years of experience in labor relations was turned down cold when he applied to be on the committee. He had been, in fact, on the management side of a negotiating table at his former job. That person is the PHX station chair but he wasn't good enough to be on the negotiating committee. Go figure.

Clearly you don't know what you're talking about. If you had paid any attention to the committee you would have seen that they have many years of experience in contract negotiations. I have complete faith in the members abilities. Maybe the PHX station chair wasn't picked because there were so many qualified people to pick from and some had better qualifications. Have you been involved? Did you fill out the surveys they sent out? Have you done anything positive, or just complained about everything and everyone? I'm sure you'll be the first in line to whine and complain if IAM's contract is put into place. How many weeks of vacation will you lose? How many sick days have you taken with full pay? How will you feel if you lose that? Maybe it's time you get behind your union and support it.

Thanks for your support oncearound.

Unions are only as STRONG as their members. Continue to be active.

Yeah, fifteen years to a whopping $15.20 per hour at top of scale.
Those years of experience are showing...

Non Union Air Tran ramp agents are laughing at that, they top out at $17.20 per hour after twelve years...

Five year agent at Air Tran is getting $12.05 per hour, as well as a .35 per hour differential for any shift starting after 14:00.

Five year agent at HP is getting (Is this for real?!) $9.11 per hour.

You can make more than that doing night stock work at Home Depot or Lowes...

Air Tran rates, just for laughs.

Air Tran-Scroll down for rates

Several of my coworkers(who hate the IAM) went to the meeting in CLT yesterday. They came back saying those folks have no clue & couldn't provide solid answers so no cards from them!

One thing that our US counterparts may not realize is that the TWU was not voted in until 99 and our first contract, a 5 year contract, ratified in 2000. Before that the starting wage was 6.95 and top out was around 12 something after 12 years. Before the TWU you got your yearly raise of 3% if your buddy calling in thought you deserved it. The TWU didn't exactly negotiate industry leading wages, but they did give us a starting point. As with any other job, if you work you make money. Since we've been union i've cleared at least 40 grand a year tossing bags, double time does add up. Keep in mind that this management team has enjoyed the industries lowest wages for quite sometime and they won't give that up with out a fight.

And that last sentence is applicable to the majority of employees........non management and below.

not the story I heard. FWIW, several AGC's whose high paying IAM jobs are on the line were directly outside the conference room to try to intimidate all the workers who went in. Didn't work though since they wield support only from IAM loyalist. Also, several of the IAM shop stewards went and some were politely asked to leave as they were getting angry and causing a slight disturbance.
I got several reports back that the meeting was 'enlightening' and a major card signup will now take place in CLT.

I wasn't at the meeting so take the above for what it is worth but based on my opinion and all the other stations I have been in contact with, there will be little or no resistance to picking up the necessary cards needed to have an election.

Basically the IAM sucks real bad and that is what it comes down to and I really hate to say that because the US AIRWAYS workers deserve so much more. My understanding is that the IAM and it's high paid AGC"S and newbies Armedios and Miller haven't even filed a grievance over the last 3 years regarding things as simple as a contract booklet for its members. I mean, it's not because they don't have the resources to do so but rather because they continue to operate with total disrespect to fleet service.

I find it utterly amusing how the IAM says not to give up what we fought for. Tell me, exactly what fight are they talking about??????

As I have said, I'm not sure who I will vote for but, I'll now do my best to make sure the entire system knows about TWU cards because it is most important to have a democratic election, it might not be the IAM way but it's the American way.
Why is the IAM Regime so much against the American way of democracy? I think it is because no doubt they want to keep their big fat paychecks, control, and POWER like Husseinist to continue their oppression of working men and women.

At any rate, I respect your opinion and when there is an election then the IAM will have itself to blame and nobody else.

regards,
