Has anyone seen the TWU's 2009 fiscal year LM-2? The 514's 2008 lm-2 is present among all the other locals 2009 submissions. The DOL requires the submission no later than 90 days after the end of the fiscal year, which is June 30, putting the due date at no later than Sept. 30. Last year the submission was also late but not 8 month in arrears. Being an election year I would think the membership would be concerned about a treasurer that could not submit required forms in a timely manner, not to mention the lack of concern of the DOL in enforcing its own rules. Bob, being a past treasurer, is there any particular reason why a locals financial statement would not be submitted in a timely manner?

Could be an oversight. In fact we submitted ours late back in 2003. It was due around the same time the concessions negotiations were going on. Back then you mailed them in and it would take a few months before you would see it on the site, so you really didnt know, its all electronic now. Maybe the Treasurer or the President lost the electronic signature needed to file, it took us a while to find mine.

The monthly report is more detailed than the LM-2 but the LM-2 has things laid out differently and some of the info can be a bit misleading, for instance if you were to look at ours it says that I was paid in total around $39000, in fact I was paid $22000, the rest was office supplies, computers, equipement, food for meetings, travel expenses etc. Some locals avoid this by having a union credit card but they usually cause more problems than they are worth.
