Wow, that's pretty harsh comments there KCFlyer.
The events of 9/11 were more serious than your 2 examples. Afterall, terrorism struck at home, in the USA, it was not just another hijacking of XYZ Airlines in the middle east or 3rd world country. You have to allow some time for things to return to 'normal' - give people time to regain confidence in the airport/airline security system of the USA. You can't blame people for being cautious - not only about their money but also their security.
