The next merger

Who is it going to be?    Who will be the surviving entity?   Will JetBlue merge with Spirit?  Spirit with Allegiant?  How 'bout Virgin America, you think they'd ever merge considering that they have been struggling all these years?

A few years back I predicted US and AA would merge.  Even created a picture of an A330 with the AA logo slapped over the tail.   Then I thought, "no possible way," after AA rebuffed US.  Then I thought the merger was toast with the DOJ stepping in.   Low and behold... here we are... with the next big thing finally going through...   The question is:  "Is this the last merger?"   Or should we see more consolidation down the road with the low cost carriers joining forces.   And if so, what would the DOJ say then?  What would people say then, when even more airlines try again to reduce competition in order gain pricing power?

Just throwing this out there ...

DL and AS ... or ... AA and AS

There's also WN and AS ... at least there would be fleet commonality unlike with B6.

I realize it will never happen with AS' valuation being what it is, but I figured I'd throw this out there. :)

Not that fleet commonality matters anymore.  A few years ago, one would never have guessed that anti-Airbus DL would merge with NW.  Same with Continental, a 100% Boeing advocate, merged with UA.  And then you now have AA which hated Airbus after the fiasco with the A300, but then changed its mind once in BK, because they probably couldn't resist the price, and it was due to be part of their fleet anyway with US being eventually, down the road, a take over target.

Ya'know, ya'can't resist Airbus.
