The New York Slimes

And they were wrong.

Our grandkids will be fighting this war.

Yes they were wrong alright, by a universe.

I seriously doubt our grand children will be fighting this war.

Bush is no leader and surrounds himself with yes men. All he is accomplishing is putting out all the fires his ineptitude starts with the morons he is so loyal to [only] because he picked them and can't make mistakes, in his mind.

Look at history and see exactly what it took to win a war. Bush has no Curtis Layman’s nor any other of the [real] men who made it possible to win a war.

This is a giant grave pit for young innocent lives brain washed into believing they are doing God's work for their country, it's also draining this countries recourses at a rate that will sooner than later surely bankrupt this country completely making it dependent on it’s enemies, which is too many since Bush has been in office.

Bush doesn’t care about borders language or culture the three things necessary to exist as a country and he sure doesn’t know how to manage a war let along manage his own staff of buffoons.

The Bush loyalist on here should throw some ice water on your face and wake up and see this reality.

Just currious. When our troops get injurded in this war and then fail to receive adequate treatment from the county/government that sent them to war, does that constitute supporting the troops?
And injured troops that are discharged have to pick a number to make an appointment at the VA's.

The sad thing is dell...I used to be a conservative until Bush bastardized conservatism.
Just because Bush has screwed up things ,to me is no excuse to jump ship....I'm registered as Republican but that doesn't mean I vote or think to party lines...
I can't register Dem though....I get cooties ....

Anymore, neither party is valid in my book.

Going from Con to Lib...thats like a contradiction...

we're "flip floppers" who voted FOR the war, then against it

Yes thats an undeniable truth!

...or we're folks who realized that the threat wasn't as immenint as they were led to believe.

Thats a moot point, the dynamics all changed once we decided to go to war. Once you make that leap its all bets off.

They voted for the war...Bush was cutting taxes when he could have been insuring that the troops had the best of everything, but without the tax dollars, we really couldn't afford it. Who was hanging them out to dry?

It was your draft dodging hero who decimated our Fighting Forces in the previous administraion. As for as taxes, you may well get your socialist type government come january. ;)

I'll take that ad hominum attack as your agreement that they really aren't protecting your or my freedoms here at home. They are doing the work that their commander in chief was too much of a chicken sh!t when his country called him to his duty.

You can take it however you want, does'nt change my view point one iota. Im proud of the Servicemen and women who defend this nation and its freedom against its enemies.

Your hatred for Bush is well noted.

Actually...you don't know me all that well. True enough, I didn't vote for Bush in 2000...didn't think he was smart enough to be president (still don't think he's smart enough), and in my "gut", I felt he might have us back in Iraq to finish daddy's business. After the "election" in 2000, I figured I'd give the guy a chance (which is more than you can say you did for "his draft dodging predecessor).

I thought maybe he really would 'reach across the aisle'. I liked the guy in the days following 9/11. I liked the guy when he went into Afghanistan. But when he started talking about what a threat Saddam Hussein was - I had that funny feeling in my gut again. When the rest of the world told him that they did not support invading Iraq, he gave him his middle finger and took us in.

And I'm not saying he lied to get us in there. I am saying that I believe the man has a propensity to only look at what supports his view, and discount all the information that doesn't support his view. You present just the stuff he believed in, and by God, Saddam was the devil himself. And I really disagree with a president who will not look at ALL angles before acting. His whole approach to this war has been "Ready...FIRE...Aim". Shootin' first and askin' questions later is great in a John Wayne movie. It's pretty scary when it's the leader of the most powerful nation on earth.

This weeks Newsweek is excellent - regardless of where you stand on the war. The words of the soldiers who have died is touching and moving.

And how many republicans who ‘support the war and troops’ actually have done jack squat to actually support the troops? Dell, you need to put that paint brush down. When it comes down to percentages, very few in this country support the troops with actions or deeds.

Sorry Dell, I got Locals and UAL's message loud and clear. There was no failure to communicate as far as I was concerned. There were some failures, but communication sure as hell was not one of them.

"We kind of got overwhelmed," said Dan Solomon, a legion member. "The outreach of the public was just so great."

In the beginning, Mr. Yost's idea was simple -- hold a vigil to honor the troops overseas and collect items for them.

Members held a 12-hour vigil on March 24 in front of the legion in Carnegie that included an eternal flame and participation by Vietnam veterans.

Before the vigil, other legion members held two additional collections -- one at the Wal-Mart in Robinson, and the other at the Sam's Club in Ohio Township. Mr. Solomon suggested they use a school bus to load the goods.

The members set up collection points outside the stores and handed incoming shoppers a list of items on a "soldier wish list." When they came out, shoppers put the newly bought items in the bus.

They brought bulk packs of soap and shampoo, dozens of granola bars and sticks of deodorant. There were pens and envelopes, cases of batteries, a Nerf football and a game of horseshoes.

"Every seat was stuffed above the window," Mr. Yost said.

Very few,Gar??

Pitsburg, PA has a population of over 12 million. If just 10% gave $1 a person, they would have gathered over …….um over $1,000,000.000. If just 10% donated just 1 item a person, not the multiple items that the article indicates they would have over 1,000,000 items. How many bus load / truck loads do you think that would be? I am guessing far more than what they collected.

Yes, Dell, very few. It's a nice start and nice sentiment but it's still very few.

Allegheny Co. Population

Pittsburgh does not have a population over 12 million. Allegheny Co. has a population of 1,235,841.

Pittsburgh itself is only 325,337.

I just found out I live in the 5th largest city in PA, and NO airline service. County grew 12% in the last 3 years.

Sorry, my mistake. I was looking at the population of the state of PA not Pittsburgh. My point still stands though.
