This is sad news.

I remember working them on the rotunda at the old airport, when they were still blue and had Piedmont painted over with white, and an old logo USAir in its place.

We used those planes for USAir's first ever ETOPS program, late 80's early 90's.

Had some great flights on this bird from TPA-CLT and TPA-BWI.   Like Everything, Times have changed.  Remember Dirty Dan?...taking off from LAX and inviting me into the cockpit for takeoff while Brooks Robinson was sitting in front of me to BWI.  We only took a 5 minute delay while he left the cockpit and extended the invite.

Even with the 734s and 762s gone the 752s and some of the older Airbus (mainly ex-HP) could use TLC for their passenger cabins.

Boeing 767 update:

As of now, it appears that US767 on February 12 will be operated by N252AU. 249 and 250 are scheduled for retirement on Wednesday the 11th. These are the last two planes in the US Airways fleet to have been operated by Piedmont Airlines.

Sitting on the hangar ramp last night, made its last revenue flight and now time to get ready for its last flight to the desert.
