The SWA Ramp union TWU ( also ops agents) and FL IAM should be announced on TUES. June 6, 2012. This went to arbitration in April and the arbitrators asked for additional time to make a decision. FL IAM had already asked their agents both ramp and customer service to decide with dept they wanted and most FL agents have made a decision. With the decision that will be announced on Tues June 6, 2012 this is one more hurdle for the SWA/FL merger. Once this is announced I wonder how long SWA will take to merger the two groups together.

Still going with 2-4 yrs enhancement for SWA. With a stronger feel for the 3 yr mark.

It was actually announced today. Southwest employees will recieve a 2.5 year boost. Which is about the minimum of what I would find acceptable.

It was sent to me via a membership email from the TWU 555. It's probably not publicly posted anywhere as of yet. People can call me a liar if they want to, it's not that difficult to believe though seeing as every other work group has been given a boost as well.
It's 2.5 years, take my word for it.
The panel of arbitrators issued their Final Award for the integration of the seniority lists of TWU Local 555 members and AirTran employees, represented by IAM Lodge 142. As follows is a brief summary of the decision:
- For purposes of seniority only, TWU Local 555 members employed as of September 27, 2010 will receive an additional 2.5 years of seniority, or an additional 50% of their length of service, whichever is less.
- Anyone hired by either carrier on or after September 28, 2010, will be integrated on an unadjusted date of hire basis.
- Airtran employees who have worked in Atlanta on a permanent basis in craft or class before September 27, 2010 will all receive a second "Atlanta only" seniority date consisting of an additional 2.5 years of seniority, or an additional 50% of their length of service, whichever is less. (TWU Local 555 members in Atlanta will also receive the additional 2.5 years of seniority, or an additional 50% of their length of service, whichever is less.) This "Atlanta only" seniority date for AirTran employees may be used for purposes of exercising seniority rights in Atlanta only and which may not be used at other locations.
- The 15 former DFW-based AirTran agents, who were temporality assigned to work at Southwest Headquarters due to the Wright Amendment, will carry their AirTran date of hire seniority once they are able to begin work at Love Field.
Note: The 2.5 additional years of seniority, or 50% additional seniority, whichever is less, refers to bidding seniority and does not change seniority for pay or vacation accrual.

So, to sum it up, it sounds like everyone @ SWA TWU 555 and Airtran in Atlanta got a 2.5 yr, or 50% (whichever is less) boost in seniority while the rest of the airtran system got date of classification, except for those temporarily working in love field because they got DOH?? So what happens to a ramper that's working in love field that goes to Atlanta?? He or she is bumped down the list by 2.5 yrs or 50%?? ( know it's a boost, I just say bumped down for simplicity sake) this is my fear of arbitration, an extensive and convoluted judgement that will carry on for the rest of our careers and make everything more difficult than it has to be...

The way I read it is as you posted. Looks like the SWA folks get 2.5 or 50%, as well as the ATL guys getting 2.5 or 50%. It basically come out as a DOH. To answer your question, the ramper from LUV Field will carry his boosted 2.5 or 50% with him to ATL, although he will be going up against the ATL folks who also recieves the 2.5 or 50% boost, so basically it's DOH vs DOH since they were both givin the increases. The way I read it is all the TWU 555 SWA employees get the boost, All ATL employees (prior to cut off date) will get the boost, but nobody else from AT will get the boost in all the other cities. It was nice to see the abitrators using all the other groups integration methods rather they were arbitrated or negociated.
I also agree with your statement about getting even more complicated if we were to go to arbitration. Matter fact, I bet we would see those damn fences somehow worked back in.

The probably couldn't use the information as it was not ratified.
Looks to me like binding arbitration wouldn't bring a better deal.

I'm sorry, I didn't specify what I meant by the people that move from love field to ATL. I meant the former AT people that move from love field to ATL, the displaced ones form DFW. If they were to go to Atlanta, even though they got DOH in love field, they would be bumped down 2.5 yrs or 50%, that's what I found odd. The arbitration panel placed AT employees above other AT employees. It's seems like a very strange method to me. AirTran in ATL gets the same deal as the rest of the SWA system while the rest of the AT system gets bumped down but only if you were hired in sept 2010.
I'm afraid this ruling might turn a few yes votes to no votes on mechanics side, especially in Atlanta. Everyone, keep in mind, one arbitrators ruling is not necessarily going to be the same as another's, and even if they were, all of SWA is getting somekind of a boost anyway. Please don't let this influence your decision. Let's get this done!
