I was just making a statement, sorry that the 321 can't do a cross country trip, either can the 757 that I was in in 2000. It happens. I was not bashing, just stating a fact.

First, it is all about me--thank you for recognizing that.

Second, it is all about the food. I have a small family living in my stomach and I have to keep them fed.

I also want to know if they would give me miles from PHL-SFO only, or, would I get PHL-MCI-SLC-SFO? Probably since we stay on the same plane I would just get PHL-SFO. As long as my upgrade on a $98 fare stays in tact, who am I kidding....I'm calling Customer Relations and complaining because if want more FREE stuff so that 737's life is even more miserable than it already is.

I thought I heard a Capt say something about the ground speed flying West to East was something like 635mph due to the tail winds.
i think it would have to be faster than that?
i get confused with knots, ground speed, etc...i typically multiple knots by 1.5 to determine mph. is that right?
are there any pilots who could unpack that confusing stuff and provide a sense of just how fast (both west-east and east-west)these planes are flying?
many thanks!

The other night we hit a groundspeed of 605k which equates to 696mph. I've seen it as high as 720mph in a 757.

No it's 1.15.

These fuel stops happen every year since we got the Airbus. Usually it's at it worse during June, but for every fuel stop, we usually get many misconects that we have to overnight at hotels and rebook for next days. It's very expensive during the heavy travel periods when many are connecting on internations flights. I can remember putting people in hotels for days before we could get them out. It's just an expense that the company must figure into the overall picture. Been going on for years.

US 15 PHL-SFO on Saturday 2-18 stopped twice,MCI and SLC, anybody know was this a double fuel-stop ?

Thanks

they were probably afraid that the MCI-SFO flight would require them to serve a meal, so they stopped again.

In the late 90s I was the PSS on duty in DEN. A PIT-SEA 737-300 made a fuel stop in MSP, less than an hour out of MSP it was realized the fuel calc. to SEA wasn't correct with the headwinds so the flt. stopped in DEN for additional fuel.

Somebody called catering & had ice cream sandwiches delivered! Of course, many unhappy pax, but after a few years as a PSS in PHL, this was a piece of cake. I didn't have to have the Denver PD on standby, like I would in PHL.

Is this not considered a weather problem beyond US control and therefore no accommodations provided? Were the other carriers giving out rooms? Now NW/DL/UA in a certain city wont even endorse a ticket over to you when there is a weather problem. They face value it if you want to take it. I cant see them giving out hotels and meals for days...
