Station Staffing Levels Still Bad

I was in LAS yesterday , where the amount of agents per flight ranged anywhere between 3 or 4. We should be so lucky in the east. We try to make it work with 1 per flight in DCA. You can't get people to work for what we offer. McDonalds in DCA offers more than we do and they feed you too. Not enough personnel and a lousy computer system is no way to run an airline.

Was in Las recently and saw the same. We still are not up to 2 at a gate on large aircraft yet. Then again, come August the new help will return to college!

It is a revolving door syndrome that has been going on for years in the West. We Hire, We Fire, We Quit, and the veterans get mandatory overtime to make the ends meet. I am now working in a West Coast station, starting pay is $7.50 per hour... who are we fooling?!?!?! McD's starts out at more to flip burgers, but we start @ 7.50 and work in a hazardous environment and handle multi-million dollar machinery/aircraft. Hence the revolving door. you can't live on that in California (or anywhere, really). It won't change...never has...never will. Then corporate hires consultants to figure out why we suck as an airline, but they don't get it. This airline will only be what they put into it...and a ton of new hires won't fix it...or maybe they are satisfied with mediocrity. Perhaps with a new contract with the realization that people need more just to live, things will get better...until then... its Top Ramen for dinner again, hold the salt please.

Alot of good it does for LAS to have 3 at the gate. Those dumbasses STILL can't get a flight out on time and don;t know what the hell their doing. LAS is a poorly ran operation!!
 
In an unnamed station 😉 we hired more help and at the same time cut the length of our part time shifts. If there's one flight delay we're now mandatory-ed? This company has what it takes to be great. But they first need to address morale, short staffing and mandatory shift coverage moves us in the wrong direction. :huh:
 
I said it a long time ago about LAS. You don't hear any b!tching out there because they don't have to deal with only ONE agent to a gate. There are agents everywhere. I lived there and commuted extensively. It was like that everytime without fail. So, that being said, keep doing what your doing in the east. You'll get NO HELP due to the fact that in the end you "Get 'er Done". STOP IT! ! ! !

I am so sick of hearing that the likes of MCDs and BK pay better, and feed you too. Well, if that is the case then you have a choice don't you? Go to work for them. I don't think they would even hire some of the ghetto trash emps we have. I never saw such a lazy bunch of frontliners as at this company. And it is always blame someone else besides themselves. If you accept a job, you also accept the pay and responsibilities that go along. If no like, then leave, simple.

You think this isn't happening? I bet some employees are leaving and on the way out they are they are doing what they can to make sure US is not going to survive. So sad........... 🙁 I bet the mantra for some is "if management doesn't care then I don't care". You may ask , why are you working there if you don't care? Some may answer that by not caring working is not that tough. You just do enough to not get fired and we know how low the company standards are.

there is and was and forever will be NO ACCOUNTABILITY from management.Forget personal accountability amongst your peers, that was banned/outlawed years ago..politically incorrect to chasten/harrass your fellow deadwoods....Until such time as the MANAGEMENT decides to hold up a higher level of personall responsability, the status quo of 'just enough' will continue and be the order of the day...lol

Got to canx a full flt to CLT today because there was no one in DCA who could push a ferry flight off the gate and the crew would have timed out by the end of the night so it diverted to CLT and skipped us altogether. It sat for over 1 hour 20 mins with no one to push it. Oh, but get this.... the next flight to us ended up being overweight or having a w/b issue, so they pulled it back to the gate (supposedly the same ground crew that ended up pushing the ferry flight also) and took off 30 or so bags and put them on the ferry flight to us. Well, they pushed the later flight off again and sent them on their way, then pushed the ferry flight. Now the crew will be illegal and it diverted to CLT with the 30 bags they just pulled off the other flight to send to us so we get screwed all around. Canx flight and now 30 people arriving without bags. All because no one to push a ferry flight off the gate. Hello, is anyone in charge of this operation? It appears NOT! :down: :down:
Also, its pretty pathetic that a crew is going to go illegal in a crew base and there isnt any way to recrew it (with 5 hours notice) so as to not canx a full flight that would end up back in the crew base.

And it is reasons LIKE THIS that you are supposed to turn a blind and say, "Oh, well....". They really don't have a clue what they are doing. Convinced. PERIOD! :down:
