Was anyone else there when the last TWA 727 landed in STL?? Pig barbecue was provided, I believe by the pilots who loved this aircraft. At TWA, all the planes has "pig" monikers. The plane that was shot up in the Beirut hijack was dubbed the "Beirut bomber" and was actually the last TWA 727 in operation as the gun shot holes were sealed and all the middle eastern debris was cleaned up. I was in ZIH when a Champion 727 pivoted and blew out all the window walls in the terminal as there was no blast fence. Since the glass was not safety glass, many passengers in the waiting area sustained glass cut injuries. The Mexican medical emergency staff was wonderful. We landed in STL with passengers bleeding with bandage compresses==the first aid kits on the aircraft were depleted. NW and TW pilots called the Champion pilots on radio informing them on the carnage that they caused. Champion ignored the radio and took off, knowing that they injured numerous passengers. That was lame.Today is Champion Air's last day of operation. Let's wish their people the best.
Also the last day of passenger 727 flights in the US.
