I think the plan is to let piedmont die on the vine. With 3 dash's coming up on cycle limits next year and for years piedmont claims they have been looking for more dash's but have been unable to secure any.it appears the only part of piedmonts growth is in providing ground handling for other carriers.
Its cheaper to contract for regional lift than to provide cradle to the grave support than for an in house fleet. The combined fleet of allegheny and piedmont today is smaller than when piedmont operated alone in the early 2000's.
Too bad, some nice people there. :(

Well, claims that there are few if any available dash-8-300s may be accurate. Bombardier's used aircraft inventory web page shows 1 available 300, but 7 available 400s.

Methinks they will find a home as Eagle ATR72 replacements...

Not a bad theory, but is AA/AE in any position to do this (either pick up the leases, or sign an agreement with 9E/9L)?

I think you're right. :(

Sure. AA can do whatever it wants.

Subject to creditor approval!

Post emergence, they can do as they please.

I don't know if these specific hulls are in the works, but I do know for a fact the company wants the type in the network.

if AE were to acquire someof those Q400s would they replace the RJs now or supplement the fleet

AA wants rid of Eagle.. As we move to the end game, I think we'll see Eagle disposed of in some fashion. Eagle may or may not operate the Q's going forward, but we'll probably see some with a red/white/blue stripe.

AA wants to do what is cheapest.. and that is to pay someone else to provide the lift they need.

same playbook has been seen before.

it sounds like aa want to do away with ae similar to how us wonbt upgrade the dash 8 equipment for piedmont (EN) if AE disappears would AA shut down the routes that AE has now?

Then again, and I am sorry to say, while no fan of management, I think labor needs to realize they need to change as well in order to survive today's different marketplace...and not just in the airline business.

Yes. Labor needs to change. Of course, it's ALWAYS necessary that labor make concessions in your narrow mindset.

The pilots conceded a huge amount of scope when it was "vitally necessary" that we get 50 seat RJs. Labor changed then, and now they can't wait to get rid of them.

Labor has changed enough. We're done with that type of change. The only change we will now countenance is IMPROVEMENTS in pay, benefits and scope.

Get it?
