How about I bring my old Cockroach Mug... or my nice stainless steel Steelers mug that I'm currently drinking good coffee in? Will they serve me an adult beverage in these? I can take it home and wash it there (or at my destination)... and it saves the company the cost of both washing the glass AND the cost of the plastic party cup.
King, ole bean, when you are of drinking age and seasoned enough to appreciate wine you'll quickly understand why no plastic is a substitute for glassware. I'd go so far as saying that for other alcoholic beverages as well. But the issue really is more that USAirways continues to try to bill itself as something its not. Their domestic F service is now, hands down, the worst of the big 5. Have you flown a transcon F trip on UA, AA or CO lately? I can't think of one area of that whole experience where US even begins to come close to their competitors.
Not to mention the usairways press release in december touting the new first class menus/service showed a meal WITH A GLASS of wine. Will they retract that or send an update to the press explaining their decision to give all plastic cupware in First class?

Will everyone please stop comparing us to US Airways, or US Air! We are America West Airlines! There is no relation. The Swoosh is pure Amatuer West all the way! Sandcastle will take the calls, or RIO Salado way.........! eeew!
True. But I think this is even under what the old America West would do.

I think it's a great move...I hate the damm glass it's un safe. Why would you want glass in the a/c when it gets choppy? I fell it's the same thought process as taking glass to the pool...if it breaks you get cut...now the party cups are tackey for wine in f/c they could use the plastic cups that look a wine glass. I have seen them on some int'l a/c. another thought with all the money they will save on washing glass they could put that to good use for really important issues...our contract pay work rules etc. these f/a's that want to do all this hottey tooty flambount service should go get a job as a stuffy water at some overpriced resturant in the city. there you can serve snobs and be one...on the a/c it's public transporation...

oh come on FC you still think of that HOT pix of me eatting the cheesesteak...now theres an idea, cheesesteaks heers chips with ice cold yuengling beer and tastycakes in F/C on all flights out of PHL...funny thing I bet there would be large market share for this product...
Actually - that isn't such a bad idea. Sitting in an exit row in coach on the 321 is much more comfortable now that sitting in FC since they took out any semblance of leg room in first with the reconfiguration. They could get rid of first, which isn't really first class anyway, and add economy plus for FF's and probably make a lot more people happy.
Oh - but that makes too much sense. Sorry - just day dreaming.

Actually, you have a very valid point; the first thing Tempe’s type of customer does when they get onboard the aircraft is kick off their flip-flops.

I like that idea! However, if they did that there wouldn't be anything for the pax in f/c though because you would eat all the cheese steaks.
Oh, and you know we would all want to take home the yuengling beer for the crash pad party or for our overnights!

I wish they would do away with first class but they can't because the Star Alliance requires it.

GREAT idea....but one huge problem, actually, two huge problems:
1.) B6 is all Y and their Y product is INFINITELY better then US....like, night an day, not even on the same playing field!
2.) WN is also a better product....the seat pitch and seats themselves are better.
The issue here is that US is flying EVERYTHING in their product into the gutter.....saddly.

That's pretty bad when we suck worse than the no frills airlines or even dinky little regional carriers. I wouldn't even think of comparing US to WN because they are a strong customer-oriented airline with high expectations for their employees, and they show pax and employees that they care about them. They have their sh!t together. They always have. They are working on a totally different business model. In our case, mgmt simply doesn't care about anybody but themselves and how much money they can make. Even though we suck, they still see people flying on us everyday and they are making money so to them there is nothing wrong.
