Just got back, they had a great 30 minute film of the airlines history, and a great museum. Who could forget the "More Care Carts" that took you down to the temp gates at T3? Or the bus service to Scottsdale and Mesa that took you right to the gate? They had the mockups of America West with the proposed livery (the stars) on a DC9. Lots of Nagoya and Honolulu stuff, the first glossy ads for flight attendants explaining the new low cost carrier, and Larry Luggage and Carry On were there in the stifiling heat.
Doug made a short speech, and Ed Beauvais came up and spoke about the America West spirit, and how every time someone wrote us off, we came back! Even a funny joke about achieving "Critical Mass" (you had to be there in the 80's to get that), and that no, Doug was NOT selling the name America West to Ed for a dollar!
A fun time, lets hope that we can all work together and have a truly great airline that puts the others to shame!
