SANDY

I thought churches and community were the answer to all these problems. Sparrow can form a group and go save these people.

I could however their are plenty out there who deliver more & better service for less money. We are the USA, not the government and we're obligated IMO to help each other. Even if it's just $5.00 in a Salvation Army Kettle.

Maybe you should ask those that have been helped by FEMA instead of searching for a few who have not.

Once again, your tax dollar at work....
EXCLUSIVE: FEMA teams told to 'sightsee' as Sandy victims suffered

After arriving in New Jersey, the worker and others waited for three full days and parts of another, even as reports dominated the television of the devastation and suffering wrought by the storm, which struck land on Oct. 29. When they asked for assignments, they couldn't believe the response, according to the worker.
“They told us to go to the Walmart nearby or to check out the area but told us to stay out of the areas affected by the storm,” the worker said. "If our boss back at headquarters had not been alerted and didn’t make a push to get us assignments, the people running the show on the ground level would have just kept us sitting in the barracks.”

Westminster Presbyterian Church Reverend Joe Hein said that prayer has helped Sandy victims in Middletown, N.J., rise from despair to resiliency and strength. He said Sandy directly affected 10 congregation families, rendering their homes either destroyed or inhabitable. Four families have now taken in Sandy victims.
Hein recalled riding through town on his bicycle the day after the storm as some streets were impassable and main highways were closed. The first person he came upon was a woman named Holly.
“’What do you need?’ I asked her and her response was, ‘I need everything. I lost everything.’”

Westminster sprang into action and 50 of its congregation members set up a Sandy relief effort. For the past five Saturdays those church members have distributed cleaning supplies and helped Middletown residents in the areas of Port Monmouth, Belford, and Leonardo with cleanup and restoration.

“We saw the Mennonites, the Amish, the Presbyterians, the Catholics, the Southern Baptists, and the Methodists who were there helping Sandy victims,” Hein said. He noted atheists seemed conspicuously absent.

You know...if a liberal posts a fact filled post from the New York Times or Mother Jones or CNN, it's just that "lamestream media kissing up to Obama". But biased crap like this is "fair and balanced" because it comes from Fox News.

Well it's ALL lamestream media to me! That's why you have to sift through all of the news outlets to form an opinion. For me I have a simple filter, "Does this action or proposal encourage, promote or enhance Individual Liberty or does it promote the growth of tyranny of our government."

The first one I'm in favor of. The second I loathe to the core of my being. Government has the resources to do a great many things, one of which is to make you dependant on them for your daily needs. Remember a government large enough to give you all you need can take all you have. That's a bargain I'm not prepared to make.

Yet # 65 is ok? LOL

Until he's impeached.

If the truth continues to come out about Libya, we may have to get used to the phrases "President Biden" and "VP Boehner"

Impeached for what? If mishandling of a situation that's ends in the death of Americans is the standard then I guess Ronald Reagan shoud have been impeached for 200+ Marines killed in Lebanon along with GWB for Iraq.

Same thing Nixon got it for, lying and a cover up.

Did you not say in another thread that you disagreed with him on the subject of FEMA? Have you changed your mind or are you just posting random videos of him?

I think it's already been established that when it comes to the subject of natual disasters he's full of crap. This is the same guy who voted against money for Hurricane Katrina yet made sure his own district got money when Hurricane Ike slamed into it. Can you say two faced fraud?

I think you need to walk a fine line. I tend to believe natural disasters is a matter of national security. Generally speaking Federal Government involvement is not warranted. We certainly don't need FEMA for a Sandy like situation. Where the Feds can and should he doing is making sure the moey is coming early and often. Beyond that, unwarranted.
