I rode on a Trans States ERJ the other morning and I noticed that it did not have the required RVSM markings around the Pitot Tubes. We flew to PIT at FL270 on a segment that is about 1:15 of air time.

I assume they are not RVSM compliant...(maybe it just happened to be that aircraft, I don't know for sure)

Does anyone know if Trans States and Mesa are RVSM compliant???

U pays for the gas on Mesa's birds, I don't know about the other contract carriers?

This is a lot of wasted money in gas flying segments in the 20's vs the 30's, and being that petrol is approaching the $50 a barrel mark....this is just pissing money out the tailpipe!!!

Just curious if anyone has some answers and if anyone in management is aware of how high the fuel bills will be over the next couple weeks? (RVSM started last week)

The 50 seat rj's both the CRJ and the EMB145 fly exclusively in the 20's and low 30's as they don't have the realistic capability of flying higher. As for TSA being RVSM compliant I don't know. We at PSA are. The CRJ700 is capable of the upper 30's most of the time.

I realize the performance issues with the 50 seat RJ's, but on a segment of an hour or more from wheels up to down the burn at FL270 vs FL320 is greater.

It may only differ my a couple of hundred pounds, but if you multiply that by 8-12 segments per day per aircraft....that's a lot of cash!!!
