It was confirmed by a member of management today that they got a raise.  It was reported earlier that it was 6%.  Anyone know for sure how big a raise it was?

They're smart enough not to be in a union where some would say no to a raise because they felt slighted 10 years ago.

Bully for them. AA should sweeten their pay so they can attract some quality peoe.

If they were a F/A, they might say no. I've already got enough. Oh wait, they aren't MORONS.

The reason I ask what percentage is that these planners and supervisors work around us.  If Parker is giving them say 6% and offers us 3 or 4%, that is a slap in the face.  Of course if the TWU "Negotiates" it down from there.

Anything less then what delta GIVES its mechs would not be satisfactory.

If the twu can't do that, then why else should we have a union. Our contract is not enforced, seniority means different things during layoffs depending on what station you're at. We PAY Union dues only to have A contract that says we get an average of delta and UAL that's some good negotiating. :-(

If AA's management is getting a raise, good for them. The only major airline I know of who pays less than AA is Frontier.

Compared to WN, DL, and UA, salaries for L3 thru L6 run between 15-30% less for a comparable position.

sounds like AA mgmt. IS getting a raise, folks.

and dAArn proud of being able to justify it - even while labor is in arbitration.

and you can also bet that they get incentive pay ... but hey they are management and they affect the profitability of the company.

You get what you pay for!

Uh, you'd be at least 80% wrong about that.

Levels 1 thru 4 no longer have profit sharing. That's all the line supervisors, specialists, analysts and senior analysts. They make up over 80% of management.

Management levels 5 and above do have a performance based bonus plan, triggered by meeting financial thresholds and some other corporate metrics.

It is not a raise for management but non contract employees in grades 1-4, most who make way less than the union folks. On the US side it doesn't even cover our increase in medical cost.

Regardless of whatever terms AA uses, the description of grades 1-4 appears to be merit based employees who do not work off of a published pay scale.

Most companies have fairly low salaries for the first levels of mgmt.

and according to Parker's definition, most of the employees at that level do not contribute to the day to day profitability of the company and thus aren't eligible for profit sharing.

Even if the number of people who will receive profit sharing and incentive pay is relatively small, they are much higher paid and do make key decisions. To separate the impact of a small number of mgmt. people from the efforts of thousands of frontline workers regarding the impact on the company is a dangerous place to be.

WT you still mischaracterizing Parkers words? He was specifically speaking about taking hits on day to day profits when it is out of the employee’s control, things like oil prices, wars, Sars, etc!

Again, almost none of these are management employees. These are admins, analyst, schedulers, engineers etc.!

I do not make it a habit to correct spelling, punctuation, or gamer, and I will continue to do so.
