Psa/crj701

It seems odd to me that nobody has mentioned that perhaps this renewed push for getting the 701s up to speed would be pointless if there's no agreement reached relatively soon. I think a more likely option is a sale of PSA. THAT is what the company can control and count on with certainty. Hopefully I'm wrong but that was my first thought when I read this thread.

Good luck in whatever happens!

Swaayze,

I think you are wrong. There was a big push for an agreement between the PSA pilots and the mainline pilots because 701s were being delivered to PSA and the company was not able to fly them. It is that simple. PSA had brand new CRJs collecting dust on the ramp in DAY and untill an agreement was reached they could not be flown (with the exception of proving runs and training).

Why does everyone think PSA is going to be sold? U has invested millions of dollars getting the CRJ program up and running (I heard $80 million, but that's just a rummor). Also, PSA is supposedly turning $140,000 a day in profits (that's a rumor also).

I could see PSA getting sold or spun off in a year or two when we are operating 85 aircraft and we've proven we can do it effectively. Right now PSA can't be worth even a fraction of what it will be worth next summer. We are currently operating only 10 Dorniers and 25 CRJs. We are tiny. How much could we be worth?

You wanna hear a crazy rumor? I heard a while back that the Alabama pension fund is going to "in a unique corporate transaction" buy PSA from U. U is going to be slowly liquidated while PSA grows larger. At some point Branson comes in and uses PSA as his vehicle to start Virgin America. Sounds crazy huh? Maybe not so crazy when you hear pilots coming back from training in Montreal saying there are 90 seat CRJs starting production for delivery to PSA in October. Also, which unions would Branson rather deal with; the fresh young faces at PSA or the angry U lifers?

Have a nice saturday.

PSA flew the 701s when they got them they flew for a month doing DAY-CLT-SRQ, they were parked for several days and returned back flying.

The PSA MEC is not in the wrong, mainline alpo wants their pilots to staff them 100%, that is total BS.

Meanwhile they just screwed all the furloughees as US can give up MDA planes to anyone now and the only people to get jobs will be pilots 50% staffing.

Once again alpo throws everyone else and their young under the bus.
