Pro Gun control Mayor Bloomberg comments on the Colorado massacre

Sorry, he had a gas mask on.

I'm guessing you would be the one opening fire through the smoke hoping to hit something you can't see.

And missing everyone else.

Guarantee those 2 thugs won't be sticking up any more internet cafe"s !

I'm going to make a ridiculous statement like the one you made about bombs, tanks and fighter aircraft !

Knives need to be outlawed..................You will only be able to purchase "Sporks" at a store..................except for criminals............they'll have the real knives !

Its a simple question. Do you think US citizens sbould be allowed to.own the type of arms.I mentioned?

Take your list, do the research and find out which items a US Citizen can legally own. It really doesn't matter what you think people should be allowed to own as long it's not breaking the law.

perhaps I am not being clear. I know what can and cannot be legally owned in the US. I am.aware that allof the items on my list are illegal.

What I am asking is if you is if you think people should be able to buy all or any of those items irrespective of the law. I am.asking what you think, what you would like to see.

I believe the only weapons a citizen should be able to purchase are guns, knives, baseball bats, tire irons...............and an F22 strike fighter, if they can afford it !

Now answer my question..................should knives be outlawed ?

Ok, fair enough, I'll pick an item from your list. I'll answer you with a question of my own.

As an aircrat owner, I suppose my Cherokee 6 could be used as a weapon of mass destruction. I think of the irresponsible idiot who flew his small aircraft into an IRS office building in Austin, TX. You mention military style aircraft. I also have a friend who owned a F-86 Sabre which was a fighter jet flown during the Korean War.

Do you think the government should ban private citizens from owning aircraft because they have the potential for being used as weapons of mass destruction?

No, nearly any object can be converted for use as a weapon. Using that logic we would have to ban every single item which is not particle or realistic. So how about we start with objects that are designed as a weapon from the get go. A hunting knife is different than a butter knife. A Saber 86 is different than a Cessna.

My understanding is that private citizens can own a fighter plane so long as the targeting hardware/soft ware is permanently disabled or removed and the weapons are removed. I think we can agree that having a fully operational Sabre 86 flying around in the hands of a civilian may not be a good idea.

I am assuming from your response that you believe there should be some limitations on what the public should be allowed to own. Land mines and RPG's may not be a good idea to have in the hands of the public. The guy in the theater did not have a record. He had a traffic violation but that was it. So even a thorough background check would not have turned up anything to indicate that he was going to go off the deep end.

Since we (and even Southwind) seem to agree that there should be limitations on what type of arms should be legal we agree that the 2[sup]nd[/sup] amendment is not absolute. There are reasonable limitations that can be put in place that most reasonable people will agree to. The reason I asked this question to begin was to establish this point. The difference is that we all have different points where we wish to draw the line. This is not a discussion of should we or should we not have limitations but what those limitations should be. What I want to limit will cover a broader range that what you would want to limit.

My bigger concern is that I think this country has it's priorities a$$ backwards. This country will go nuts if someone flashes a titty on TV but seems like it could care less that we can see people getting dismembered, blown up, cut up, shot up and other wise maimed on TV, video games with out so much as a raised eye brow. Add to that the easily accessible weapons both legal and illegal, I have to ask why are people surprised that this happened? I am surprised that it does not happen more often.

NYC Mayor Reignites Gun Control Debate After Colorado Theater Shooting

A longtime proponent of gun control, New York City Michael Bloomberg weighed in on the tragic shooting early Friday morning in Aurora, Colorado, that left 12 dead and dozens more wounded at a showing of The Dark Knight Rises. Twenty-four year-old suspect James Holmes was arrested after allegedly opening fire in the crowded theater and carrying a rifle, handgun and gas mask. The tragedy prompted Bloomberg's police commissioner to announce increased security at screenings of The Dark Knight Rises in NYC to prevent any possible copycat incidents.

"You know, soothing words are nice, but maybe it's time that the two people who want to be President of the United States stand up and tell us what they are going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country," Bloomberg said Friday morning on WOR Radio's The John Gambling Show with Mayor Mike.

"Everybody always says 'Isn't it tragic?' And you know, we look for was the guy, as you said, maybe trying to recreate Batman. I mean, there are so many murders with guns every day, it's just got to stop. And instead of the two people – President Obama and Governor Romney – talking in broad things about they want to make the world a better place, okay, tell us how. And this is a real problem. No matter where you stand on the Second Amendment, no matter where you stand on guns, we have a right to hear from both of them concretely, not just in generalities – specifically what are they going to do about guns?"

Ok Mr mayor tell me Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation and its a friggen war zone there right now. Libtards can never figure this out..Criminals will ALWAYS get guns no matter what gun control freaks pass as laws. It is the citizen who will be out of luck if the Bloombergs of the world have their way.
