How about we try to talk in a positive manner on this thread. I for one want to make things better

Ok, I beleive that in TUL at the maintenance base, that engineers need to be given the authority to make changes. Do away with the red tape that is causing the cost of ideas to take so long.

An example?

Remove the lower flourescent lamps on the MD-80 fleet that have been deavtivated for over 3 years. Engineering states that these lamps are part of the STC of the aircraft. 33 pounds per aircraft. I believe it is $12,500 per pound in fuel cost per pound.

Removing the overhead in maintenance would go a long way to fix the cost problem.

I believe that sometimes HQ forgets what our business is about.
