Please Dont Destroy This Airline

Just to let you know there are rampers as you call us with masters & phds. As far as unskilled labor, come along & take all the tests required each year to keep our jobs. You really have no clue.......
Just curious, what exactly is required to become a ramper?

I didnt know that there were a bunch of tests for it. Is it anything like becoming an actuary?

I wouldnt worry about it the junior man here has 17 plus years
I dont want to become one! I just want to know whats all involved.

You said there were tests and stuff... Im just curious to the length, difficulty, and content of these.

Thanks.

This is not the time to bicker about wages and vaction.. YOUR COMPANY IS GOING DOWN THE TUBES!! F-A-S-T!!!

For GOD sakes roll up your sleves, tighten the belt, put on your work clothes and go to work and make a difference. Some of joke how unemployment would be better, its not. I have been there.. its aweful and degrading, and it makes you feel worthless..

YOU MUST ACT SOON...
Are you from CCY management or something?

Why would you go and write something that is going to stir the pot with people who are already in fear of losing their jobs, being bought out, going bankrupt, giving more concessions, or just being snowballed again?

Everyone in the employee group has their own concerns, and it is not their fault that this company has been so poorly mismanaged over the years.

For crying out loud, what do you expect them to do?

well if youre from ccy i sure as heck dont need to hear from you until we hear how much of a LARGE amount of money you're going to give up. It is very unreal how mgmt in ccy can AFFORD to Give Out 6.5 to two clowns who have left a week apart and then turn around and ask us for more concessions! And besides that a few stations have been turned into the upside down circus known as expressed mainline or mainline express. what do you have to say bob?

Bob, what I respectfully think you dont understand those airlines like you speak of can not keep these people. While they may have plenty of applicants most of them say ...........this in a few weeks if they make it that long at that rate of pay. Just like the commuters here they can hire these young kids but it's a revolving door they do not stay. You get what you pay for...

The point is there are 20 year olds that are willing to do your job for minimum wage.
Really?
Than send them to Philly!
Out of a new hire class of 17 ... 14 either didn't pass the drug test, couldn't pass the faa mandated tests, or didn't like the hard work once they started.
We are now down to 3 new hires.. I would welcome all these young kids that you speak of cause I'm getting my butt kicked. They are just not out there!

Rampers it is essentially basic manual labor. You don't need a PhD. I can tell that $19/hr low skill jobs are far and few between

I bet the families of the pax on the ValueJet flight wish the rampers that loaded their loved ones plane had 17 years of those "mindless certification tests" under their belt.
No it's not rocket science but if you don't know what you are doing you are a danger to yourself and others as well.

Mainly they are hazardous material handling tests as well as back safety, emergency procedures, weight and balance, fire extinguishers, and security type tests that typically are administered on a computer and take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.

Piney, you said in your previous post that it makes no differences what SW contracts are or any other airline for that matter, it is like rearranging chair decks on the Titanic. Then you preceed to compare U F/A's with Mesa and Transtate, a previous Agent with U who is not making $7.plus and rampers with UPS or truck drivers. Which is it???

I get tired of this same ole same ole.I could really give 2 hoots about any other airline and what they make and do or don't do. I am USAirways.

I have taken a 38% pay cut. Need I say more.
yes, you need to say "I took a 38% pay raise over the years. " but obviously, that was unsustainable. truth hurts, and it's pay and work rules that have put the highest revenue airline in dire straight. tell me KT, how does an airline sell the highest ticket prices and lose money. oh ya, the same response from you and the rest. it's management. ya right. what goes up, must come down. there's no thing as a free lunch. matter is not created just changes form. KT, time to go to work again, common, kick ol bessy in gear!

Piney Bob:

You must have missed my message asking you about your statement concerning morally bankrupt unions. Is there any factual basis for that statement concerning AFA, ALPA or CWA?

Thanks.

I know mainline pilot will never give up thier seat for a customer. they will not jumpseat. that's good for an airline!

I don't know Mr. Hammerhead. How does the airline sell the highest ticket prices and lose money.????? You tell me, honey buns. I resent you coming on here and singling me out to make your so called "whatever point". I have not belittled you or put you down or even singled you out. There are many more on this board who know a hellava lot more than I do. I am just a U #########. Get It????

Also, by the way, Pilots get whatever seat is left. They do not have a choice of giving up a Seat for a customer. The customer is First. If they get a regular seat in first class or coach, they seem to be content. If not, they fly in the cockpit to their final destination. Once again, I will repeat what I said on another thread, just what the hell are you on today?????

Look at the stock price, investors are beginning to bail. If LABOR makes a quick bold decisive PROACTIVE move to get costs down, the big money people will react and keep US afloat with loans... if the big money people think USair is going to be the next eastern they will bail on you guys...

YOU MUST ACT SOON...
The sky is falling!!
