Can anyone here confirm these? I was wondering if these were pre-merger etc...I notice there are different pay rates listed as AWA etc...

I think you'll find this a little more accurate:

Airline Pilot Central

The payscales for the two sides will be different until a combined contract is negotiated and effective.

Jim

Thanks for the link. I see the difference in seniority for US Captains compared to AWA. Now I understand the fighting going on.

And no, I'm not taking any particular side in that issue.

Your question is more complicated than you think, I hope it is a sincere one. The fighting as you call it is not about pay. The following article quotes America West Pilots that worked for less than Usairways pilots for many years.America West pilots describing how their pay in recent history

Notice I am providing access to facts for you, I am not spinning my side of the story. If you encounter additional responses, I suggest you ingest the facts and purge opinions.

It was a sincere question. I am a former NWA AMT now employed elsewhere, outside of aircraft maintenance. I still follow the airlines as I was employed by two different ones for over 20 years.

I just found it interesting that the seniority difference in left seaters was so different between the two carriers.

I knew NWA DC-9 captains that were veritable new hires (1996 or so) when we went on strike and were replaced. I'm not sure what it takes to hold captain there now.

It will be interesting to see how your situation at US/AWA unfolds. We in the mechanic ranks beat each other senseless over the years, all to the enjoyment of management. I hope that doesn't happen to you all.

Management will enjoy the outcome of this situation. The next generation of employees will have it easier, because of sacrifices that I will make today.

Ya easier. I like the $41/hr to start on the 190. How about 7 years before getting more than 1 week vacation. If selling out the new pilots is a sacrifice then you gave up a lot didn't you?

I did not mean this as an insult to gabby, I just wanted to confirm where he was at this time. On the contrary, I have a lot of respect for the current Piedmont pilots. They have always insisted on respect from their employers.

When they were doing this over the years, they were banished from future opportunities that were turned over to more "willing" regionals. They are in a similar situation that the Usairways pilots got into being undercut by the America West Pilots for years. This allowed the entry of the new Wolf of the airline industry in his quest for mergers and stock options, damning operational results.

This is a result of ALPA policy and lack of leadership. This apparently will continue, the new leader has a appetite for politics today, not a vision for the future.Piedmont's Roots Run Deep

So wrong, I must object.

When the US MEC contrived a "Strike Committee" in the early 90's, placing Jack Stephen as chair, your Piedmont BOHICAs cried that the word "strike" was too inflammatory, their words. They were afraid management might "take offense". and this was with Schofield, someone the Piedmont pilots have roundly chastised since. We told them they were wrong but they wanted to "keep a good relationship with management".

The only respect the average Piedmont pilot demanded from management was to wave their buttocks in front of management's nose, waiting for a kiss. That does not include a large (not majority) group who really is rational.

Actually, I blame the Braniff immigrants hired by Piedmont for the Piedmont cry-babies.

I apologize for the misunderstanding, I am referring to the current Piedmont airlines that fly Dash 8's.

I find it hard to believe that during the go go days of the mid to late 90's anyone at USAir gave a rats ass about America West and their payscale.

After all, you boys had that parity +1 thing, so whenever another pilot group negotiated a good contract, you got a nice raise, plus 1%.

Now you're undercutting the rest of the industry with your paycut hat trick rates and you're playing the martyr, claiming "America West undercut us for years".

Please.
