PIEDMONT

Just learned today that LIT Piedmont employees got their packets. American Eagle is taking over the operation on March 11.  So long PI employees. Very sad day in Little Rock.
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they are offered positions in another location or with Envoy/American Eagle.

The Q-400's are too large for many Dash markets, 76 seats compared to 35 and 50 seats.
Yes, I remember when Horizon switched over to an all Q400 fleet. Moses Lake, Port Angeles, and some other small destinations were dropped. The Q400 is very efficient and the break even count very low, but some markets are just too small to serve in today's environment.

ATR is still making ATR-42s and ATR-72s.    While I sincerely doubt that new AA would buy any, they are very nice airplanes and could easily replace the Piedmont Dash turboprops.

The problem is they cant get anything larger than a Q300, unless the pilot's agreed to waive their scope.

Have there been any offers from LCC/AAG on new planes/plans for replacement?

About 6 or 7 years ago ATR brought a demo aircraft to SBY for a look over and demo flights. Nothing ever became of it.

Very true.  Fact remains there are markets in the mid-Atlantic and northeast connecting through PHL and CLT where the efficiency of the turboprop aircraft would be lost with a 50-90 seat RJ.

He added, "At US Airways, we've already suffered through very turbulent times in our industry. My co-workers and I have suffered through two bankruptcies, pay cuts and that sinking feeling that things might never turn around. American Airlines workers have lost jobs and seen their benefits slashed. Their airline remains in bankruptcy. This merger finally is the opportunity for all our sacrifices to be rewarded."
Activists also included members of AFA-CWA, APA, APFA, IBT, TWU and USAPA.

Why are you posting this all over the AA and US Board, its not even relevant to the topic.

Would you give that management team new airplanes? The handwriting has been on the wall for a very long time regarding Piedmont's future, or lack thereof.
