I'd be shocked if $50k covered US' costs on a 330 over the pond both ways (you have to bring it back), moreover, is there a spare aircraft to be had these days?

An extra section wouldn't be possible. IF we had an airplane to run the extra section (we don't) it would take 2-3 days to accomplish the round trip due to crew rest requirements. Since there would be no crew in Europe to bring the airplane back, you would have to wait for the crew that took it over to be legal to bring it back.
Reznc and Crusher are both correct. There were 45 overales on the MAN flight on Sunday - most of that caused by rolling customers from Friday and Sat which inflated the oversales on Sunday. This happened because seats to MAN could not be found (online and offline) all weekend. Hopefully this will help inventory to reevaluate their summer authorization levels for bookings.
