That's pretty much what Jim told me, too. Guess that's one of the advantages out west...more space in between major commercial airports (except in the Los Angeles area).
 
Has anyone every used the PRM approach. The only time I've seen it was during severe clear, and even then we didn't actually use it. We were given the visual. I thought it was supposed to speed things up when the weather sucked?
 
Last time I checked the union does not tell the FAA how to set the rules.
 
NATCA (the "new" PATCO) does not write the rules for the FAA, but they do have clout.
