Passengers Separated From Bags

How does Al survive? He should be gone!

A real company who cared about is succeeding would have fired him all ready for all the problems in the crown jewel of PHL.

So 700UW, when did you start caring about the company succeeding? Actually I would like to see the company eliminate "employees" with attitudes such as yours. (Which may be just around the corner...)Time to OPEN your own PRIVATE concession stand!

700UW,

I have not read any news releases where CCY was blaming labor.

Stop trying to find fault with CCY and focus on supporting your colleagues and management.

Don't allow the facts to get in your way.

Once again you have no idea of what you are talking about.

When I am at work I give it 110% if you don't believe me ask my manager, foreman and coworkers.

Second thing, I have given back over $10,000 a year in wages per year for over 2 years now, and that is not counting the 21% paycut, lets see how much did Lakefield give back of his $425,000 a year? ZERO! I have one week less vacation, two less holidays, two less sick days and paying more for insurance. So I have contributed my part, why can't Bruce?

The employees since 2002 have given back more then $2.4 Billion dollars and the vendors have given $1.6 Billion back in a two year period.

What did management do with $4 Billion? Why is US back in bankruptcy a second time?

No airline has ever been saved from going out of business from employee concessions alone, it takes creative management.

Why has US' Labor costs fallen since BK1 and yet non-labor costs excluding fuel has risen?

Did you now AA, CO, DL, NW, WN, UA's non-labor costs have dropped excluding fuel?

Why has US gone up?

This management has no clue on how to run an airline.

Why did Wolf, Gangwal, Nagin, Siegel and Cohen walkaway with $42 Million for failing?

And I have never said I want this company to fail, management just needs to be held accountable for failures instead of being rewarded.

Hey Zues,

By the way go check this out before you post:

Another post

Why are you not in PHL handiling the crisis, your x-mas is next week?

And all the media has said it is due to crews and rampers calling in sick.

Why does Al C still have a job after another PHL Fiasco?

Open your eyes, and see what is happening around you will be lucky to recover from another PHL Fiasco, why is PHL not been able to hire the 80 rampers they are short? Who's fault is that?

Pssstt. Bruce, there is an airport with
excess gate space and an excellent facility
for connecting passengers. So, far the
LCC's have pretty much stayed away.
The labor pool is large and most of the
employees are already trained to work
in a hub airport. There are rarely ATC or
WX problems and the baggage belt
doesn't break with alarming regularity.
Of course, I'm talking about PIT.

No matter how much money US has
wasted in PHL with construction and
operational improvements, it's time to
leave that behind and move the hub
and assets back to PIT. No amount of
O&D revenue (which has been cut in
half by WN's presence) can make up
for the losses that are occurring every
day in PHL with baggage delays and
flight irregularities.

Admitting you have a problem is the
first step to finding a way to fix it.
C'mon, Bruce, it's time to admit that
US made the wrong choice with PHL.

Oh, and one other thing Brucie, it's
time for Al Kremlin and Benny "the
chin" Baldanza to find alternative
employment. Neither has contributed
anything to the company that has
even begun to address the revenue
and customer service problems that
have plagued US for years.

Inflight in CCY just sent out some CBS message stating they are offering emergency vacation buyback for DEC "because of the enormous amount of F/A sick calls." Let the blame games begin!
VAC buyback at this date is TOO LITTLE TO LATE Ms. Groff.
PS...how's your Christmas going?...nice and cozy on the West Coast I bet.

Am I the only one who has trouble feeling sympathy for those who knowingly fly U through PHL anymore? The problems are well-documented and well-known. I guess if you wave a cheap enough ticket in front of someone's nose they'll bite, but then they assume the risk.

Bear:

Part of the problem is that customers insist
on packing everything including the kitchen
sink to go on a three day holiday. If they
could all learn to pack like airline employees
do (one or 2 carry-on bags), then their
luggage would get to their destination with
them. Oh, and if they avoid connecting in
PHL, they could probably check a bag and
have a reasonable expectation that it would
arrive with them at their destination.

A passenger is limited to two bags to be checked in and fly in the belly, if the passenger has more then two bags, they get charged excess baggage fees.

That is lame trying to blame it on the passenger for having too many bags.

I still do not understand what the baggage problem in PHL has to do with the alleged sick out by a number of F/A's. HNN News is stating thousands are without bags in PHL and U is flying planes carrying only bags to various destinations?

Yes there were planes flown from PHL-CLT all during the night carrying only bags, no passengers.

I usually refrain from posting on these boards, I just sit by and watch, but I was on US 751 on 12/22 and here it is Christmas day and I too am still without my baggage.

I'm fine with that, I fly through PHL about every week and I know what's going on there (mostly by reading these boards). I'm not excusing it, but I'm not crying about it either.

What I take serious issue with is the complete stonewalling I, and everyone else without their bags, is getting from U. When I call for updates on the baggage hotline the system is so bogged down even the automated system "Alex" isn't functioning. You try and get through to a live person and you hear "we're assisting other passengers, therefore we can't assist you, goodbye."

That's just wrong.

I call the US2 800 number (res) and they tell me they can't do anything to help me. At least I talk to someone and they're nice and apologetic about it.

I don't think management truly understands what kind of public relations debacle they're dealing with here. All these people without bags, who are desperately trying to explain to their families why they aren't getting gifts - and why they've been wearing the same underwear for the past 4 days - are probably going to seriously reconsider flying on US again.

I truly feel bad for everyone at U. There are thousands of fantastic employees there (which is why I keep flying) that are victims of other's incompetence.

I wish you all happy holidays and success in the next year, wherever it may take you.

If you need me, I'll be sitting here wallowing in my own crapulence. It's hard to spend this $25 per diem when nowhere is open to buy a toothbrush.

(And for those of you that blame passengers for flying through PHL - not only do you remind me of the news anchor on "Airplane" - "they bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into, for shame" - get your head out of your a*s. Then go down to Atlanta, Delta loves hiring people like you.)

Didn't take long for that to change....2-1/2 hours or so.

National news channels now quoting company spokeswoman as blaming 1- weather, 2- excess F/A sick calls, and 3- excess ramp worker sick calls.

The "holiday operations" incentive program that we've put in place will help reduce the sick calls.
