Outstanding Article!

The Tribune Review is widely revered in Pittsburgh as a right wing rag designed for use when you run out of toilet paper. 'How can outsiders know' says an outsider. Who then gives his opinion.

Outsiders for all of their alleged objectivity have opinions based on whoever pays them to have one. Perspective based on experience is a much better gauge of what course to take.

Three of four unions don't wan't to swallow the worm. Golly who is the fool, the one who swallows the worm or the three who say, go ahead dumbass.

Great lets all give everything that we have earned over the past twenty years....or the past fourty years ...........NO NO NO I want to fight another day but U mang has to show us thet they are going to fight and not turn tail and run....yes FLL is great news but hell if I had a square A hole it would S$#! bricks.....give u something to build on!!!! not the bricks they keep feeding US.......Good luck to all!!! Maybe you should read the Tribune Review.

The Tribune Review pays for contributions, if the contibutor has sold his soul for the 'right' opinion .

Who knows what the hell you are taking about in your last comment. Go ahead dumbass swallow the worm. Of course that would only be if you worked here

Pilot insults other airline employees

Posted on Tue, Jul. 30, 2002

The writer is a fleet service agent. Chip Munn's July 26 column ("Unions can sink US Airways") was self-serving and laughable. A pilot, of all people, condemns members of another union of "brinkmanship." Captain Munn has been very well compensated, even during very lean years, and I am sure is well situated for the future. For him to condemn our front-line people who work very hard for a fraction of his salary is not only insulting, but also insolent. But, after all, he is a pilot.

All we want is to be recognized and treated with the respect that we deserve, from management as well as other employee groups. If management deals fairly with us, we will certainly reciprocate.

 UT

First of all the title of this thread is misleading, it is not an Article it is an Opinion-Editorial, the thread topic needs to be changed.

And I love how an outsider who has not lived in any US Airways' employees shoes has the gall to tell the employees what to do.

Let him go through what the employees have been through and maybe he will see the light.

I for one am offended by it.

First look at the author’s picture, he is a tired worn out old man, wanted to be a Skull and Bones member who wasn’t born of blue blood. This is the same author who slammed U in the past, slammed U very hard too! Now to read his words without raising ones brow is to look the other way. This paper has a known agenda and that agenda starts with a big B for business and everything extreme right wing where everyone earns their keep and no government exists. The powerful rule the weak die.

This was a long way of saying I give absolutely zero credence to this author’s words given his history.

Here is another opinion that might fit....

"Sell short airlines whenever they go up in proce. Unions own the business, not the shareholders!" Carl C. Icahn at an investors conference, on the power that airline labor unions hold over their employers.

If I had followed his advice and shorted, I'd be rich by now!

Seems to be a balanced opinion too - he gave time to both sides and posed a few questions. Not only that, he suggested that it would be best to solve the problem than to have to company cease operations. Is that so bad?

He did not address managements declaration of war upon its employees.

He did not address that management has stolen what they could not negotiate.

He did not address the lack of trust toward management because of their blatant contract violations.

Let see Bob,

The honorable Judge Cindrich ruled in favor of the IAM, even though the appelate court changed that.

Will you eat crow when Mr Bloch rules in favor of the IAM?

F/A involuntary furlogh, ruled twice in favor of the AFA.

Pilot Pension terminated after being told by Davey Boy take concessions to save it.

Placing of 76 seat RJs at Mesa right after agreeing with the pilots on a new contract that forbids it.

Company trying to steal deicing at PHL and PIT, IAM stopped them.

Company tried to shut GSE down at the out stations IAM stopped them with threat of another lawsuit.

So Mr High and Mighty who does not work for US Airways, I suggest you find out what the real deal is before you defend the company. But that is right you are always procompany and hate unions.

And Bob, there are grievances won everyday against the company. with monetary damages awarded to the grievant, since you are not a employee nor IAM member of IAM Representative you have no idea or clue what transpires on a daily basis.

700, I believe your last statement is INCORRECT, The last union meeting(wed), we were told the company is NOT RESPONDING to any grievances!!! When presented to the company, they simply are not responding. I think they are planning the elimination of many of us. When the company starts ignoring the union, what does that tell you?? GOOD DAY!!!!
