Very interesting that it is North West that is approaching Delta.
Yeah, but they dont need DAL.

When this merger happens, all the NWA stations outside DTW/MSP will be Delta Global Services (DGS):From the article:
"The group that has the most to gain from the merger is the [Northwest] pilots and all [Northwest] employees who are paid less than the [Delta] employees and will get an immediate bump up in wages"
My question is: What raise?! Compared to my DL counterparts on the ramp, I pay hundreds (if not thousands) less for medical/dental, have more sick time, and 2 weeks more vacation...
I should flush all of that away for a couple of cents per hour?! No thanks!
Keep DL your DL!

Probably referring to the pilots. NW would have to be brought up 5-10% to achieve parity with DL pilots. In addition they would receive an equity stake with annual raises of 7%.
Not anymore. From what these articles are saying: You kids couldn't figure out how to play in the sandbox with the promise of a new set of toys so now you're gonna have to learn how to play in the sandbox with......no toys at all. :-O

Well, actually, the 5-10% represents nothing more than parity. You are correct the rest goes away without the consent of the pilots, however Steenland obviously knows going against the pilots is not really advisable. Otherwise, the original offer would never have been made.
If you want to dismiss the importance of seniority by comparing it to toys in a sandbox, that is your right. I prefer not to trivialize it with such simple minded statements.
