If both NWA and DL do successfully merge, what are DL's non-rev benifits like compared to those at NWA? At NWA, 16 one-way (8 r/t) companion passes are issued, upgrades to f/c and world business class (wbc) cost additional but coach is free for employee, spouse and kids. Parents, too are eligible; however, they do pay a service charge - something like $34 o/w in coach in CONUS...(again, additional for f/c and wbc travel). NWA has interline agreements with close to 150 other airlines. A buddy works for Comair and he said he was informed the flying benefits for both NWA and DL should be combined "around November" - I haven't heard anything, though. Also, NWA - the buddy passes are somewhat worthless, as the employee has to travel with the guest. When parents fly, they are different, too.
What about the boarding priority and vacation passes?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Don't know everything but we get free unlimited domestic with no up charge for First or Business Elite. It's given if available. If you have a companion, they pay buddy pass fair for their tickets. We get 8 buddy passes per year that are round trips tickets. Parents are included but if you have a designated companion your parents have to pay a service charge to fly internationally. If you don't have a designated companion then your parents have transoceanic passes that they don't have to pay for and again upgrades are not charged for. I think we have to pay some type of international tax or something that is unrelated to Delta. It used to be around $37.00 many years back and don't remember if that's still in effect. This merger is going to make non-revving to Europe so much harder!

Maybe the be two policies will be integrated in to something everyone can live with (hopefully an improvement).

DL's sounds better. Why will Europe be harder to non-rev to? I would think if anything, it would be easier - but of course I'm sure between the two carriers, routes will be cut.

Oh yeah, forgot about the int'l tax thing. With the way the Euro is right now, I wouldn't want to even try going there. I'm thinking Manila, Bangkok..... :)

DL does charge a yearly $50 fee for the employee's pass privileges. That gives the employee, spouse, minor dependent children unlimited domestic S3 travel and 18 free travel days transoceanic. After that the there is a $75 fee for tranoceanic. Each person also gets 6 S2 priority days. Parents get 18 S3B travel days to be used domestic or transoceanic. Parents are given unlimited yield fare travel after they use the 18 freebies.

For employees that do not have a spouse or travel companion the parents' travel privs mimic a spouse. Travel companions get unlimited S3 yield fare and 6 S2 yield fare days.

We also get 8 S4 buddy passes which I find to be more trouble than they are worth many times.

From what I've heard the interline passes will be available in May. When NW employees fly on DL they have a lower boarding priority than DL employees but ahead of everyone else and visa versa when DL employees fly on NW aircraft. This pass privlege is system-wide. I don't know how they will collect the Int'l taxes when flying on the other carrier or if any service charges will be levied. Another question is how will we list as non-rev on the other. When merger is complete in November or so....we will travel at our seniority on the combined carrier's entire route system, using the DL format.

Wow, that's a lot of info. Thanks. What are "18 free travel days transoceanic"? Are you saying that after the employee (spoue and kids) take 18 trips across the pond, each time thereafter is $75? What is "unlimited yeild fare travel" for parents?
Can parents and buddy pass riders fly w/o the employee? Thanks for all the info. Just trying to get a heads up on how you all travel on DL so I know what's coming down the road.

The 18days of transoceanic are basically 9roundtrips of free travel per person, with the $75 fee on anything above that. Transoceanic is between hemispheres, that is travel to/fr South America is unlimited & free(plus int'l tax), like domestic. Travel within Europe unlimited, but don't believe that there are any flights like this at present. Would assume that within Asia would be the same. Yield fares are the same as buddy pass fares, except they have now added surcharges to the buddy pass fares, but not the yield fares. Parents and Buddy Pass Pax do not have to ride with the employee.

NW and DL both use Date of Hire for boarding priority

Effective May 6th, DAL employees can fly NWA for free using standby priority of 6P? i believe. Business casual is the dress code, and no business class.

A travel day isn't exactly a one way trip. Before DL went to the unlimited domestic a HNL-ATL-to just about anywhere took two travel days. The HNL-ATL leg would leave on one day and the second leg would leave on the next day, usually a early AM flight. The reverse would only use one travel day because only the time of departure counts. That is why we get 6 S2 days. This allows you to attempt to make two RT to Hawaii a year from the east coast with a connection. They still use the travel day wording even though there are very few international connections on DL metal. This will change once Tokyo gets added as a hub.

With the parents yield fare tickets after they use their 18 travel days they can purchase individual flight segments just like buddy passes but still use an S3B priority.

I am guessing when NWA non revs on DAL, no business class for them as well?
When and where was this put out?? Haven't heard this - yet. Sounds good, though. Why was business class excluded and how are we to list on each other's airline??? questions, questions..... :)
